Did anyone pick this up? Would love to see some pics of the paintings within. Surely they are prints of the paintings from his current show, Spectrum, no?

I'm visiting Paris for work next month (Feb 6 - 13) and would appreciate any suggestions for places to go for an art fix while there. I'll go to the Centre Pompidou of course, and I plan to go to Helene Bailly for the last days of their winter group show ft. Katrin Fridriks. www.helenebailly.com/exhibitions/group-show-exposition-dhiver/Any other recommendations much appreciated!

Hi,
I have a Kaws Woodstock figure to sell. It's in hand, brand new, boxed. I'm in the UK and just looking to recoup cost which was £165.
[edit: now sold. thanks.]

I think James at prescriptionart.com has one available. I don't think he is asking quite as much as the one you linked.

Honestly, after reading how Nick thinks about these I have lost most interest. What did you read?

Sorry if I offended anyone, just think this forum needs more analysis and less of the "I love it" garbage that is often shared without saying WHY. FWIW, I don't see any evidence that you have offended anyone and can't imagine that you would have done, though I have been wrong before I thought your response was interesting, and I thought this was turning into a really good thread for exactly the reason you mention. I've never seen the point in posts that just say "great piece", either. For me, this thread is good to read because it is giving me some insight into how people respond to these works. Mose gave some historical positioning and points of comparison / contrast, some of which I could have dug up with enough thought, most of which I couldn't; and you raised the patriotism point which I would *never* have come up with, but which is again interesting. This is waaaay more interesting than "that looks nice" or "that's garbage" or "a five year old could have done it". So I like this thread and I don't think you should be apologising for anything --- good contribution as far as I'm concerned. Better than mine, anyway

Do I want a canvas on my wall that physically degraded US currency to make an aesthetic statement about the meaninglessness of that same US currency? Seems pretty anti -American to me. As a non-American, in fact a Brit with almost no sense of patriotism, the very fact that this thought could be generated by these works is really interesting to me. Mose has already responded with some appropriate historical quotes, but as a naive response from myself: it seems to me that if some oxidised copper coins can provoke patriotic discomfort, then that is a discomfort that ought to be provoked every once in a while, whether one regards that as a critique, a challenge, or just plain pointing out that it's there. While I'm here: many thanks to mose for a great contribution to this thread, one of the best internet forum posts I've *ever* read because of its combination of knowledge and well-pitched writing. This is a great thread.

if you missed on 1xRun's Lil Homies by Brett, you might wanna check 5PiecesGallery cause they still have few of them available for the same price: And for UK or Europe-based people, the few still on sale at The Outsiders are probably the same price once you factor in shipping and tax.

Some new pieces up for sale at The Outsiders (can't figure out how to post an image here, sorry --- take a look at www.theoutsiders.net/artist/brett-amory) and in the newsletter, the news that Amory will have a show at Lazarides (rather than The Outsiders) in 2013. Awesome!

Hi, I didn't know anything about JonOne until I saw this post on AM: arrestedmotion.com/2012/11/openings-jonone-a-beautiful-madness-fabien-castanier-gallery/and was kind of surprised not to have seen a thread on here about it. Any reason for that? I'm quite taken by the work, and there are some HPM editions available, but with no chance to see it in the flesh I'm reticent. Anyone have any views, or experience with the gallery? Cheers, Guy.

I thought that must be your piece when I saw it in the book. Excellent! Makes the book all the more interesting for you, I suppose, too.

Does anyone know anything about the CircleCulture show featuring Fridriks that is advertised on the PicturesOnWalls home page? There's an image there that says "Circle Culture Gallery, London" and below, the text
Katrin Fridriks, Olivia Steele & Stefan Strumbel The Royal Academy of Arts London, England 12th October - 15th November
I can't find out anything about this via the Royal Academy web site, nor the Circle Culture Gallery site, nor Fridriks' site. I'm confused. Help!
Guy.

It's 322 pages, large format, mainly consisting of photographs. Some are (I guess) Sam's work, and some are shots of his works in the making, e.g. paper rolls cooking in the sun. There are one or two bit of text (poems I suppose) in there. There are more images of the book on the karmakarma site than there used to be so follow the link.
But look. It's $30. If you are interested in Sam Falls then it's highly recommended and really it's a no-brainer.

I'm new here but I have to say I'm sick of this joke already. Origo has made it pretty clear he doesn't appreciate it so why persist?

Probably a dumb question, but 11.5K in what currency? If you say Kroner then we have a deal

The preview of this show looks really good --- so pleased to have had this brought to my attention. The work in this show is an unusual mix of sizes: a few quite small pieces and some HUGE ones, nothing in between... which was a shame for me (or saved me some money, depending on how you look at it )

Thanks for that! Just called them. They don't have them in hand but are happy to take reservations (with no payment) and will have them in two weeks or so, it seems.

Piecing together the complex trail of clues left by Hirst and his publishers, Columbo style.
Having said that, these days there are plenty of things described as "paintings" that do not involve any paint, so perhaps I speak too soon. Or "works" that do not involve any work? Now I'm just being churlish.

Well the title of the piece is "Beautiful, Galactic, Exploding Screenprint" so there's a pretty good chance it's a screenprint, no?
