Your art isn't just covered under your homeowners?

Getting my collection insured is a lot of work. . . +1,000,000 I always seem to put it off for one reason or another but had a leaky pipe in the roof and missed getting my craola hit with water damage just barely. So, getting scared now. Oh, also there is a thread about this subject here if anyone's interested in reviving the topic.

Ahhhh... What do the donors get? Does the gallery keep all the commission on the sales? The way it reads now, it looks like you're asking for handouts just to make a profit for yourself.

It's a bunch of paperwork, but I am already starting to sleep better at night. All my collection is in storage so it's perfect timing to have it appraised and insured before bringing it home.

Can't believe that the Nurse series paintings by Richard Prince were hard to sell at $50,000 in 2003, only to be so in demand today that they are fetching upwards of $5,000,000 at auction now. "The Nurse Paintings are Prince’s most recent series. These nurses are inspired by the covers and titles of inexpensive novels that were commonly sold at newspaper stands and delis (pulp romance novels). They were cheap and trashy entertainment, hence Prince’s attraction to their reflection of what the American people want. Prince scanned the covers of the nurse books with his computer and then using the modern invention of inkjet printing, transferred the images to canvas. He then personalized the pieces with acyclic paint, adding an air of mystique to them. They first debuted in 2003 at Barbara Gladstone Galleries, who along with Larry Gagosian, represents Prince.[6] They received mixed responses at their premier, not even able to sell for the asking price of 50-60 thousand. Presently a work from the Nurse series, which he stopped at 42 nurses, sells for a minimum of 5-6 million. Each nurse is distinguished by a personalized name such as Surfer Nurse, Naughty Nurse, Millionaire Nurse, and Dude Ranch Nurse. These are all like the images appropriated from the books they were sourced from. At an auction in New York, two different Nurses went up for sale and surpassed their high estimates. It is like Prince said “The problem with art is, it’s not like the game of golf, where you put the ball in the hole or you don’t put the ball in the hole. There’s no umpire. There’s no judge. There are no rules. It’s one of the problems, but it’s also one of the great things about art: It becomes a question of what lasts.”. Sonic Youth's Sonic Nurse album used nurse paintings for their album, and even named a song "Dude Ranch Nurse" after Prince's work." Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Prince#The_Nurse_Paintings

I am looking for some black archival paper either by the sheet or roll. Anyone know some good paper resources outside the norm? (must be acid free/archival) Thanks & Happy Holidays

EPICFAI,
not only are they super easy to deal with but good forbid something is damage like I have had they are super fast to make payment and there is no BS like other companies the amount you insured the work for is the amount they pay, also you can adjust your account meaning ad pieces to it online as long as they are valued under 10K and do not need a true apprasial for it.

I can not say loud enough if you are able to get USAA insurance and have anyone else your best bet is to switch, not just for art but home owners, car it all is pain free and cheap

I'm thinking Josh Keyes and Os Gemeos in January ! - I'm sure a few people are thinking about these two shows in particular... both pretty unreachable for me alas ... wouldn't it be cool if a few artists got together and produce a few works to be auctioned for (non affiliated) relief for haiti - .. don't you think ? (without using ebay / juxtapose (& of course paypal) - given the postage fiasco mentioned here..) oh and, yes I'm also thinking, I'm Skint
