looks like sean christopher is busting out some new sculpture work to go alongside his paintings for his upcoming show at limited addiction... "THE MELANCHOLY VENUS" Oil on Polymer Sculpture 10"x 12" (One of a Kind- Sculpted entirely by the artist) show starts 29th november and is a 3 person with lyle motley and stella im hultberg. should be a good one.

Yeah, I dig it a lot too. I think I like it more than his paintings these days. I always thought he had so much potential when I first came across his work back in 03-04. And I always liked his stuff just fine. I just don't think there's ever been a piece that I "loved". It's unfortunately, cause I think he's got incredible talent and I love the surreal elements to his work. For me, it just never clicked. That said, I look forward to what he brings to the table at this upcoming show.

I really appreciate the comments. I especially enjoyed "lowpro's." This is an issue that's come up before. I have heard the same thing from galleries, collectors, and peers. I try and explain it , by reassuring people that the last few years have been filled with a lot of experimentation, new directions, and unconventional paths, basically "growing pains."
My "03'-04 style" has been highly collectable, and very, very, few pieces have been put back into the market. This tells me that whomever the collector, they are happy with the work. My work through the subsequent years have been successful, albeit, different. The good news is that the work I'm producing as of lately,... is much more like the previous work. In fact, I believe it's much better! This in part is due to having gone through the "growing pains", and being a more mature artist.
I can honestly say that the work for the upcoming "Limited Addiction" show is the best I've ever done. That being said, I think it's going to make some lucky collector(s) very, very happy!
Thanks again for the insightful comments. Your input is valued, considered, and important.
-Sean Christopher

Hey buddy "oldfartatplay!" Thought about you recently too. Glad to be here,... Oh, the show is in Denver at "Limited Addiction", opening November 29th.
Sylvia, no site. Just type in Sean Christopher art, or Sean Christopher art artist, and at least 10-12 pages of various shows, interviews, articles, etc.... will pop up! ;D
Thanks in advance and good luck. -SC

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to the show @ Limited Addiction. Some of my strongest work will be there. Thanks for taking the time to respond directly to my comments, Sean. I hope you didn't interpret them as too negative and more on the constructive criticism end of the spectrum. I want nothing more than to fall for one of your piece in the very near future, and I cannot wait for you LA show now. Moreover, welcome to the board. I used to enjoy your positive and insightful posts about art and the industry at large over at limitedaddiction, even when the forum was on it's death bed. Glad you found this place and hope you're comfortable calling it home! Plenty of great collectors and artists alike.

Not at all! I thought your insight was accurate. I would rather hear someone's honest opinion any day, then to hear a bunch of "fluff." Hey, it shows you care, and that's a hell of a lot better than indifference! I really do appreciate it, and I hope a piece resonates with you when the time is right.
I'm so glad "svenman" turned me on to this "think-tank!" There's a good vibe here, lot's of educated, passionate collectors, and great artists. I think I found a good place to settle down in, (and have even less of a life). The good news is, I plan on meeting some good friends, enjoying some great art, and contributing to make this world of ours a more beautiful/interesting place.
All the best to you all, and yours. -Sean Christopher

Hey everyone! Dave's got the preview up for the upcoming L.A. show. The show includes some new (killer) work by Lyle Motley, and Stella Im Hultberg (&me). Some work has already started moving, so just a "heads up", before you regret the one that got away! Enjoy! Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Yeah, all three sculptures were badass....and so very reasonably priced for the amount of work that went into them I suspect and the amount of detail they exhibit. Good stuff!

Did anyone from this board get to attend the show opening? Just wondering how it was, looked, turnout, etc...? I was stuck in LA, and couldn't make it. Would love to hear any feedback from someone who was there. Thanks! -SC
