1. what do you think about online magazines compared to paper magazines? 2. Is this the way of the future ? 3. what are the pros and cons about online magazines? It seems to me that online magazines could really have alot of potential. Think about it, they could include video where a paper magazine couldn't. They don't tear up and there is no shipping involved and prices could be lower because no printing needed. It could save some trees. There still is something about having a magazine tangible in your hand.

Wired magazine offers it online at no cost. I still go and buy it as normally i read my magazines places I am away from my computer ( train, plain, waiting areas ) I think for this reason we could never get rid of paper magazines. I do however see if it was a magazine directed toward something such as art, or a hobby and only available online I would read it, but if i can subscribe to it i do and cost of a subscription is so much cheaper 1 year details mag. is under 10 dollars

I have seen some online magazines charge a small amount to subscribe sometimes. I do know where you are coming from with wanting the magazine on a plane, car, ect.

There are certainly a lot of pros with an online magazine based on content and the possibility of fresh updates being added. I am still quite a tactile girl though, I do love buying several magazines monthly and love that pleasure of flipping through pages, chopping them up or taking them if I travel. I guess it is the same with something like the 'Kindle'. That is a great piece of tech, great for trees, great for storage and convenience, but there is still a personal joy reading books.

There are pros and cons of both.
Printed mags do have that tactile feel like devours spoke of. Collectibility is also a factor. Something that you can enjoy without having to be on the computer is nice. But you have to wait for a new issue, and they cost.
Online mags are nice in that they don't coast anything. It's something you can subscribe to by e-mail or RSS. Video and available links, that interactivity that printed cannot offer. The main downside is one I am dealing with, not that I am saying my site is an online mag, but keeping the readers interested. I think with the knowledge that a site is updated more frequently the readers have that expectation that new content should be there 2+ times per day. You miss a day and you can see readers unsubscribe. With a printed mag you have to be patient due the nature of it. Something to look forward to once a month, as opposed to multiple times per day or week.
