If you include teams of painters, then I haven't seen one that beats Jeff Koons's. OK, and I'll not leave out the ladies Tomma Abts

Even though he's very young, I think Matthew Palladino's one of the young talented technical painters... His repetitive superb control at gouache has left me shaking my head occasionally.

I know the hype is big at the moment with him, but what about Jeremy Geddes, this boy has the skills to pay the bills any day.

huh. i swear i posted in this thread ages ago but apparently not.
so anyway, yep Aaron Horkey is just insanely talented. I can't think of anyone that compares when talking pencils/micron pens and very few that compare in painting.
and chris berens just blows my mind each and every time I see something by him.
geddes may have the hype machine rolling now with multiple print sellouts but there is NO doubt he has the talent to back it up.
There's been tons of other amazing artists mentioned in this thread but those would be my top three.

two of my top 3 are already mentioned here when it comes to 'technical skill'. 3 totally different schools.... joe sorren for what he does with light and texture. tony curanaj for his immaculate realism, and the subversive twist he always brings. barry mcgee for his sheer versatility, clean lines, but mostly his mind blowing skills with a biro. i'd also say that eric white, mark ryden and marion peck are highly technical or maybe more technique-al... and i was very impressed with chris berens' work when i saw it last year.

I would go with my personal favorite artist Joe Sorren the blocks on his last work I felt like I could touch them, and I saw a work by Tony Curanaj at Johs gallery in person and it was truly amazing
