Virtu, Thanks for sharing the images! They look wonderful. The snowy white palette he's using is one of my favorites. I saw this monster painting at the Tomio Koyama booth at Art Basel and I guess it was a preview of what's coming for this show.

I hate to say since it somewhat trivializes the work, but that snow yak is the cutest thing!

Sophia's bubbles was 800k at Basel. "Sophia's Bubbles" has now been revised to $700K for the show... Does that now bring it into your price range? Tom maybe? "Abominable" jIm

Ok, that Abominable piece is hilarious. The creature looks so smug. It's an expertly rendered scene that's also a lot of fun. That's probably my favorite of all the new pieces I've seen posted.

Anyone prefer his older more complex paintings his new minimalistic style? I do except for the fact that I was not always happy with his choices of color in the past and this new palette eliminates that from the equation.

Anyone prefer his older more complex paintings his new minimalistic style? Without a doubt. Not that I don't like the new stuff but I prefer the more complex stuff by a WIDE margin.

Actually, I prefer this new direction from Mark. I like his use of one or two figures within the painting, and the subtle details in the soft palette. For me, it resonates a more alluring sensuality.

I gotta admit I was none to impressed with the scans of the pieces provided in the preview. But wow..these actual pictures of the paintings really show them in a much better light. Even some of the most overtly white pieces, which came across rather stark and boring to me via the scans, have such richness and nuance to them in these pictures. Yet again, this reinforces the power of both seeing actual pictures of the paintings on the wall (something which I tend to always request from gallery owners when I'm serious about a piece, and am sometimes shocked by their resistance or lack of motivation to obtain a digital camera and snap a couple quick hi res shots) and - even more so - seeing them in person. Thanks for the heads up about these pics. I'm happily reassured by them, as I really was didn't know what to think about this show from potentially still my favorite artist. The man truly is a master, something that is almost even more evident in this exhibit as a result of his use of such a minimalistic color palette. Quite impressive!
