saw this work at Art Basel www.evanpenny.com/home.phpthere have been a few hyper realist sculptors since the 1960's Duane Hansen comes to mind and more recently, Ron Mueck, . . .he was part of that Sensation show that had the Mayor of New York in an uproar over the a painting by Chris Ofili(not a particularly striking painting) at the Brooklyn Museum. A lot of fuss over a whole lot of nothing. I was appalled that no one questioned whether or not the painting was any good. Instead they fixated on the Holy Vrigin Mary and a small piece of resin covered elephant dung applied to the "artwork". Don't believe the hype! sorry for the drift Anyway, Evan Penny's work is a departure from the usual hyper realistic sculptors in that his pieces have a wonderful skewed, stretched, forced perspective , . . .some of them are flattened out when viewed from the side. beautiful stuff!
