Too many I like to mention specifically, but I am especially drawn to the Michael Hussar "Hans Memling"; I can imagine the feeling of it looking at you no matter where you are in the house. Truly amazing piece. I also really like the Jeff Gillette - I wish I could have seen the show in person, I have only seen online. However I get the feeling they are much richer in person.
Also, do you paint much? you should show more of your stuff!

Hey all, here's some recent additions to my collection Steve, those are some awesome additions. I saw Wilbur last week in person. I took the subway to downtown during mid day and took a look at some cool stuff. I was surprised at the decent price. I thought all Chet Zar stuff was priced in the stratosphere. Apparently, not so. About Hussar's "Hans Memling". That is one of the most frightening things I've ever seen. I sent a picture of that to my sister about a month ago just for kicks. She said when she opened up the email, she couldn't delete it fast enough! She didn't want any traces of it in her mailbox. heh heh. me, I'm just scared of the Church in general. The Steven Bossler piece was one of my favorites from the Toys show. Thanks for sharing.

I missed the opp to purchase his "widow" giclee 1 of 1 on the evilbay for 600. Man, i should've picked that up. I paint a lot, mostly acrylics, some mixed media. I'll post up some more pieces! Thanks for the kind words man.

My first choice was his "Murakami" blight canvas but that one sold the first day of previews

Nathan at the Hive really hooked me up, actually knocked off a considerable amount from the asking price because i picked up two other pieces from him. How is Gallery Row anyway? I didn't have a chance to check out the other galleries. Anything cool? Hussar's stuff is so amazing IMO. He's a master. Too bad he refuses to sell a lot of his works. I was talking to Josh Liner from JoshLiner gallery in NY and he told me that Hussar refuses to sell a majority of his work. Not sure why. Josh told me that Hussar has pieces that are ten years old that he refuses to sell.

Thanks entropy. Yeh, i was really surprised at how affordable the Zar piece was. There was no other thread on Chet Zar in the forum, so I thought I'd post here: I was reading a Guillermo del Toro interview ( he's the director of Pan's Labyrinth, if you haven't seen it, what's wrong with you??) in the overpriced nerd/Sci Fi magazine, Starlog (admittedly, I actually bought it to read stuff on The Dark Knight). Apparently Chet Zar worked several creature designs for Guillermo's forthcoming film: Hellboy 2: The Golden Army. So apparently Guillermo del Toro was very demanding of Spectral Motion (the FX company Chet works for). He wanted creatures " unlike anything that has been seen before". That meant no goblins or trolls! ha ha. He actually threw away all the initial designs into the garbage! Ultimately they came up with a few winning designs... Here's a quote from master Guillermo del Toro on Chet Zar: " Chet Zar is an incredibly versatile fine arts painter, who's into that whole juxtaposed pop surrealism, and he never thought he could design a creature in that sensibility and have it taken all the way through the building process. But he designed the Chamberlain character in a fearless manner. He essentially executed his design verbatim all the way through, without a director or producer poking their noses in and making it more accessible. We went with cryptic creature designs". Check out the LATEST trailer for Hellboy 2. Look at all the creatures... You'll definitely see some recognizable Chet Zar monsters come to life! I'm glad to see one artist from this scene break through and not only receive "mainstream" recognition (especially from one of the best living, working directors today), but I would imagine now earning a lucrative penny in the film industry.

His interest in art and horror movies led to a career in the motion-picture industry. His contributions to the industry were in the form of sculpture and make-up effects. Zar designed and created prosthetic effects for such movies as The Ring, Planet of the Apes, and Darkman."

I did bid on it but once it passed 2k i was over it. It's a sick piece but i just dropped some coin for these two sketches, figured i should chill for a bit.

Love the framing job on the Shepard piece. What instructions did you give the framer?

Love the framing job on the Shepard piece. What instructions did you give the framer? Thx! Told the framer that i wanted a thick black frame, with lots of space between the print and frame. Wanted a black matte with a bit of sheen. I've got several other Fairey pieces that i plan on framing the same way. It just costs so damn much to do that i haven't done it yet.
