i'd really like to see a decent canvas and package painting come to auction soon and see where the price flies? The last few pieces at PDP have stuttered, well the chalk didn't sell and the freaky c3po only hit 13750 sterling, the two skulls and the 13 baby disruptions also reached similar figures.

I agree Simococo it will be very interesting to see, what are your thoughts on it? The only problem I see is that collectors may be reluctant to sell decent examples of his work hence why we have only seen questionable pieces come up for auction.

At the moment, they aren't breaking up the set of 21. Price is north of 200K. Maybe they'll consider selling separate if the set doesn't sell, but supposedly on hold many times over already. Here's a thought.... Could we not jointly buy the set and then agree to have one each ;D |

Count me in too. Although I would have thought there would be some sort of purchase stipulation put in by by the gallery and Kaws that would state this set should not be broken up. Anyway from what I hear you can add another $100k on to the already quoted $200k for the actual sale price of these tondos!

$15K each sounds fair to me.  about year ago, these 13 pieces were sold for around $20k, which makes it around $1,5k each.. I know it's not the same media/format (these were acrylic on print, around 10x7inch), but it's 10x the price... I wonder how much would these would fetch these days.. |

I just think it comes down to quality of the work. I'd have no interest in buying those baby pieces at any reasonable price and, if I remember correctly, they had condition issues. The tondos are more comparable to product paintings IMO.

I think the fantasy that we all have had about buying the lot and splitting up the pieces is exactly what KAWS and Honor Fraser were trying to avoid.

i recall a bunch of us talking about the same thing for that 99 bottle barry mcgee installation deitch had at miami basel in '09.
i'll bet that whoever did buy these will eventually split them up though, so expect to see a good chunk appearing at auction sometime soon.
