Thought it would be interesting to start a thread on street art being painted over or vice versa, the walls before the work goes up. Here is a Conor Harrington piece and what happened after.

At least the work seems untouched under the installation. Somebody should go rip that down. I would think the more high profile street work would be targeted more so then the average tagging that goes on.

This German artist Sweza has been using QR codes to document street art/graffiti after it has been painted over, I think this idea has a lot of interesting potential. Anyone with an android could take a picture and generate one of these pretty easily. I think it's a cool way to use technology to document art that has been buffed out and still keep a site specific record by putting up a QR code. Check out the article: 2d-code.co.uk/qr-code-replaces-graffiti/

Oh, great. It looks so much better now. /snark My world is clothed in mottled streaks of a thousand shades of civic beige. I can understand the need to buff gang tags, but this is simply obscene. Anyone with an ounce of sense could see that this is an artistic statement with aesthetic values.

Interesting partial buff of Escif's work. Hello all, I was walking in Valencian historic center when I found some walls I´ve painted in last weeks. But I found my pieces partially covered. I don´t know who does it, but it´s strange that only sentences where buffed! Local elections in Valencia will be next month, so I suppose that politicians are afraid that people can think a little about. Incredible that they doesn´t covered completely, because they make a clear censorship. Beautiful drawings can remain, but strange words must been buffed. Silence contains all languages!
