Hello,
After trying countless times to acquire an Audrey Kawasaki print the official way so that I can return some money to Audrey herself - I'm now forced to purchase from a flipper on ebay. This is depressing as I'd decided to buy a print when my wife was pregnant as a present for my daughter. My daughter is now two and, although I'm still trying, I have given up hope of acquiring one any way other than through ebay.
I have even contacted the gallery that Audrey is planning to do a solo show at in December this year in the hopes of being able to receive prior notice - but no response.
I've the opportunity of buying a framed print of either Carry On or She Who Dares.
Once the markup, overseas posting, and currency exchange is taken in to account I'm looking at paying more than $1000.
Given this is a lot of money (for me) - I'd like to ask the opinion of members here as to which would make for a better long-term investment financially ? I know art is a subjective topic but would either of these prints be considered a better choice from an investment angle ?
I personally would love to buy both - but sadly, thanks to the practice of flipping, don't stand a chance of that.
I don't like my chances of acquiring a print from the December solo show either.
For such a beautiful subject matter - the flipping aspect is incredibly sad for people like me who want to give money to Audrey for her work but can't as all prints are sold out within a minute.
Any and all responses gratefully received.
Thankyou for your time.

I think that if it's for your daughter, maybe Carry On is a better choice because it seems more innocent. As for which one I prefer, I personally like other prints alot more than these two. For example, My Dishonest Heart, Saying Goodbye, Two Sisters to name a few of the recent ones although probably If Only You Were Here would be my favorite. As for investment, I think it's hard to say. They are both probably equal with a slight edge to She Who Dares but maybe neither is a good investment. Good luck. Hopefully you get in on a release one of these days. Don't know where you are located but you stand a much higher chance if you actually attend the show and arrive early...

you should have tried harder on the time-limited releases. ah, yes, good point. i forgot about those. for those time-limited ones, anyone who wanted a print got one. you can try to wait for another one of those if you want and save money. i think at least two of those happened in the last 2 years... but i forget. audrey really tries hard to hook up her fans as evidenced by those unlimited releases...

I would wait until you can get the one you want. It took me a long time but it eventually worked out for me, and I don't consider myself a lucky person when it comes to things like Audrey Kawasaki print releases.

Thankyou all for responding.
Time-limited releases ? My world was turned upside down timewise with our first child so looks like that's another thing to chalk up to having missed. No problem though - thanks for letting me know they were around as this gives me hope for future releases.
I was a bit premature on saying I'd be buying both given how much it'd cost me.
Really do appreciate you taking the time to read and respond.
If anyone has a spare Carry On they'd like to part with (or other Audrey LE's) for a reasonable price or trade (I have Judy Cassab and David Rose limited editions I could trade) please let me know.
Thanks again.
