So, got this sketch from Joe before at VTN because it was one of my favorite paintings from him. A rather old one from 2004. I had seen it on ebay a while back but too late because it sold already Guess the art karma balanced out because it came up for sale the other day and I was just quick enough to get my hands one it. A little smaller at 5 x 7 but I love this image. Been trying to get my hands on more bunny portraits to complement my vinyl collection... Joe has a show coming up at G1988SF that I posted in the shows section here.. He also has a solo show coming up in 2009 with copronason as well.

Similar style, a lot more depth... Pretty cool.

Some other ones. Not as nice as the Smash though IMO.

Not into it at all. This is a step backwards (IMO).

Not into it at all. This is a step backwards (IMO). I don't see ot as a step backwards but his pure 2-D (2004) work is more appealing to me. I also like his paintings when there is not too much going on... just mr. bunny or Ringo works best for me.

But, Joe's trying to evolve his work. He can't paint the same thing and same way forever. Hopefully he will settle on some colors that will be more appealing to me. I did like the angel and devil bunnies as well as a couple others though.

here's a few pics. i got there a bit late... and there were less people than i thought that would be there (was so crowded at the Ledkins signing) so I wish i brought my sketchbook. maybe that really creepy lingerie clad twitching tranny scared everyone. nice to finally see some of his stuff in person - sorry pics aren't very great saw some tall blondes start to surround him... so i couldn't pass up an opportunity to take a photo creepy-stalker-paparazzi-style really liked this one

Wow, Joe is pimpin'. I liked how some of the paintings turned out. How did his new "lighter" linework look in person? How did the show sell?

think everything sold except for the "constrictor" and the very large pieces. in the preview, i thought the pieces looked too light... but viewing them in person, that didn't bother me (although i don't have his darker linework to compare)

Thought i'd post up my OG - "The Duel"...currently at the framers to go into a perspex UV box. I love this piece because you can hang it two ways depending on who you want winning!

Joe's London leg of the Amalgamation Euro Tour opens tomorrow so i'll post some pics up when I can on Sunday. Backgrounds are still colourful but I think he's toned it down slightly and kept it to fewer 'characters' in each piece.
Interestingly he's selling the original sketches that became many of these Tour pieces and some older paintings. Will post more pics of those shortly! Great chance for us UK fans to meet the man and purchase his artwork.

Posted up some of the images from Clutter here. Also check out their flickr as they always have great pics from shows in London. How much were the drawings by the way?
