if the pieces all sold to one collector before the show even opened, it means theres a pretty high demand, especially for all her other collectors, so it only makes sense to raise the prices based on that

not sure how I feel about the dark background, but I guess it is necessary to pull the hair off. the detail in this piece is insane.
I also get a kick out of the "wtf is that" look on the face of the woman in the reflection of the frame.

I have it first hand that her show with pace next year will be a totally new body of work, its good to hear that she is going to push past her comfort zone.

Saw Edison Chen post this to his Instagram with Aurel's tag. I wonder if this is the new direction of her work....

if im not mistaken she produced these for a group with oh wow a while back, certainly something new for her but unsure if its a new direction as such. these were also sold as two separate works

The images above don't match the preview .pdf I have for It Ain't Fair 2011: Materialism show.

Great find on the instagram sleepyboy. It does look like it comes from the same series as the one OHWOW exhibited last year in Miami, from her "Domestic Bliss" series.

From the little that I've been told about her new direction, this doesn't appear to be it. Apparently she's developing a looser style with a brush. But that's just hearsay so who knows.

Thanks guys, it does look similar to that larger piece Miami. Guess we'll have to see how things develop. Makes me wish I had grabbed one of her older pieces...

There were 2 other pieces, the same size as those above, that OHWOW were selling at that time that were not displayed in the show(but were included in the .pdf).

the two other pieces mose is referring to were 32x24 and looked very similar to the instagram pic above. The wallpaper pattern is basically the same. What I can't really tell is if those in the above pic are actually 32x24? Like someone else mentioned, I think this style of work was experimental and done based on the theme of this particular show.

I have to agree. It's a pretty ugly piece although the detail is incredible as always. It's 46x33 inches and was $24,000. It sold at the preview.

A fine example of the difference between art and design. Art doesn't necessarily set out to be attractive.

Should design be any different?
