Hi, after lurking here for a few days I read this "art buying tip" and decided to register and comment. This is my first post, and I don't want to start off by sounding like a jerk but... artbuyer, your "tip" just made it 10x harder. Most of these on-line shops crash the day that highly sought after prints go on sale, the servers can't handle the traffic. With the same # of people trying and using this "tip" it's going to be impossible. I am thinking/hoping that some of these on-line stores may find a way of detecting IP addresses that hit their site every second and block them.

hey guys, been collecting for a few years and thought I'd share my knowledge of buying art from online galleries. enjoy! www.artbuyingtips.comThanks, artbuyer! And welcome to the board! I look forward to your future tips. For me, I'm SOL if a print is released during normal business hours... So I usually don't bother. If I really want a Ryden print, for example, I typically have to pay a premium on eBay. But this certainly helps for stuff like Audrey Kawasaki who seems to release stuff on Saturdays.

you don't need the help, lol. You're right. I'll be honest, I don't know how I feel about this art tips website. And it's not just the whole greedy "Oh no, now people will know my tricks", but certain aspects of it, particularly the "Here's how to buy multiple pieces using Paypal" part, reek of greed and seem to be a "how to flip and make money" manual versus a "How to get that one piece you really want" guide. I know the author says it's supposed to be informative and help the galleries/artists prevent this in the future, but honestly that sounds like a load of BS to me. That being said, the rest of it seems legitimately helpful and there's some really great tips to follow (namely, IMO, to use Firefox and to have the information typed out ready to be pasted. Auto-checkers are for pansies ) lol

autocheckers don't really help much anymore... although they did a few months ago (since POW doesn't really do those guerrilla sales anymore - not gonna lie, i have been awakened at 4am for some releases ) . i don't know how to write/use scripts... if that is in your next blog entry, i'd like to read that
