I am doing another lecture at the college, this time on Lowbrow & Pop Surrealism art. Many of the faculty will be there to listen to it, and while I have been preaching this art for the past two years in this department, this is my last chance before I move on to really show them all how amazing this scene is.
One of the things I want to focus on, is the fact this scene is attracting more and more fans, even fans that normally wouldn't be going to art shows. I know there have been some exhibitions that had lines to get in to see the work, does anyone have any photos of these lines?

I would check places like flickr and type in exhibition names or artist names, another place is artist blogs. I know Upperplayground usually posts photos on their site for show opening that show lines, one that comes to mind is the last David Choe show Character Assassination. I’ve seen line shots often for Kaws, there was one up of his LA show on the web. There was definitely line shots up and around of the recent Mr. Brainwash show, I think your best bet is typing in show names as I said. Here is one I found really quickly for Kaws… supertouchart.com/2009/02/22/lafirst-look-kaws-the-long-way-home-at-honor-fraser/Supertouchart has quite a few show opening shots. There are probably quite a few up on fecalface as well as they often cover show openings. Hope this helps.

I'm pretty sure an example of this would be Mr. Brainwash's icons show. I know there were free prints to the first xxx that entered. Plus I know I have seen photos, just cant remember where.

Another Banksy one here. This portion of the queue was actually the middle bit. The first bit was on the main road in front of the museum, then it continued up this side street and even at times carried on up another side street to the top left of this road. azealofzebras.blogspot.com/2009/08/marry-me-banksy.html

If you're just looking for images with sheer volume, I stumbled upon these images from Scott Campbell's first solo in Miami. Certainly not a name that would turn heads for any of your instructors though.

Wow! these are great everyone, thanks. I did have a small folder filled with shots, but most were too dark. I know the professors are used to images like this: I would like to show them that it is not always a Van Gogh or classically themed venue that draws in large crowds. Slowly but surely some of the department here is coming around and liking what they see with this current scene. I enjoy the challenge of trying to get them to see some validity in it. It also gives me a break, I have 10 papers to write this semester with themes like "Medusa and the shift from the grotesque versions of early Greece to the idealized in the late Hellenistic Period."

Interesting concept (though slightly off topic):
A friend of mine, SF street artist Eddie Colla, made an interesting point during the Q and A for the release of the SF Street Art book last year at Moe's Books in SF. Last year when SFMoMA had the Frida Kahlo show, they had record breaking numbers, somewhere in the thirty thousands. However, anytime Eddie puts up a wheatpaste on the Bay Bridge, over two hundred thousand people see it each day. Now all of a sudden, who's got more reach and more influence, the street artist or the museum... who's got the longer line in the end?
