Anyone else get the preview? Man - 10K-100K. Some beauties. Hearing word there will be a handful of smaller watercolor works on paper released Thurs during VIP opening in the 5K range...
To have scored at his last Gallery AD show up in San Jose or his last show at Giant Robot here in LA were the places to be... I still count my lucky stars. This weekend is just crazy with this show, Blaine's big return to the gallery scene and Phil Frost killing it yet again. Hell yeah - LA rules.

10K? CHUMP CHANGE! JK!
Too deep for my pockets but looking forward to basking in them, taking them in, and getting the book and postcard set in May. I got 2 out of the 5 covers and might get more since there are some pretty images that I might have to pull out and frame. To add to the heat, James Jean is having a signing at the Giant Robot booth at the LA TIMES Festival of books... so get those Process Recess books and prints signed!

I did get the preview and the prices were much similar in Beijing and London, so his prices have skyrocketed, but at his recent Upper Playground show, I feel that collectors were lucky to get his work at reasonable prices.
I won't be able to go to LA as I'm in NY right now for a presentation to inspire the uninspired college students. It's shame that I'm going to miss this VIP. I thought that it would be on Friday the 23rd, but it's tomorrow evening! :-(
I'm HOPING that not many people will buy his watercolor pieces at the preview show tomorrow. I was told that he has made about 25-30 pieces for the show!
thinkspace, yes, I scored a couple from his last show with Gallery AD.
jemappellekat: Aren't you going to frame those show posters, eh? ;-)

Swung by the studio yesterday with Tan for a joint Hi Fructose / Arrested Motion visit. Definitely very excited to see the show later tonight! Couple highlights: David and James Jean put on an impromptu jam session: Showed us a sneak peek at the prototype for his upcoming vinyl figure: Even let Tan ride the Green Monster! : rest of the photos here: hifructose.com/index.php

haha awesome ken!
so, tan, are you gonna get a green monster? looks like good fun - you just need a warehouse to ride it in...

The show was pretty cool... Wish that I had $30,000 to get the piece that I want... And there were a few of the watercolours left...

Really enjoyed the show but couldn't help but feel the location was incongruous to the art. Loved the space but felt somewhat disoriented walking out of a Choe show into a street lined with Banana Republic and Lululemon outlets! Felt like it should have been in a warehouse somewhere of the beaten track.
