very cool update! Hoping he does take some risks and switches it up a bit. I love seeing work from artists evolve and take on different directions. his piece where he is shackled to the bear really says alot about many artists who become popular and sometimes limited by their fans. Am i wrong when i assume that if he doesn't switch it up a bit it may affect his career in a negative way? Isn't that the case with Ledbetter's work as of late? Not that it's not desirable, but i've noticed that JLed's stuff is not selling nearly as quickly as it used to. Not sure if that is always true. Some artists have stuck to what they do best for years and are still doing well. Not to say we wouldn't like to see Luke change it up a little. I think the key is to evolve but not alienate your fan base who have expectations. It's a fine line.

This is from the Year of the Ox show at GR2. Is there some sort of chinese parable or some sort of story here that I'm missing?

This is from the Year of the Ox show at GR2. Is there some sort of chinese parable or some sort of story here that I'm missing? yes, the story of the zodiac is referenced here. There was a large race to determine who would be the animals for the zodiac. the reason the rat is the first is because he was sneaky. The rat knew that the ox was a hard worker and would be the first to rise and get started so the rat fell asleep the night before on the ox's back. As expected the ox was the first to rise and the rat spent most of the race asleep on the ox's back until near the finish line the rat jumped off the ox and ran across to be #1 in the zodiac.

Thanks, I didn't know that. That sneaky Rat is also the reason that there is no cat in the Chinese zodiac. The story is that the rat told the cat that the race was the day after it was to happen so he missed it altogether.

The story is that the rat told the cat that the race was the day after it was to happen so he missed it altogether. that is true too! the zodiac story really has a lot of little side stories in it that make it a lot more than most people know. on a side note. does anyone know how much the prints for the show run? are there going to be any others? I'm still torn on whitewashed. I think his self portrait where the bear removes the masks to reveal a banana is a more powerful image of the whole whitewashed topic.

I had a chance to buy both these OG's but passed. I think they were $1500 each or something at the time.

Very nice play on his Possessed bear. Sadly it was sold even before the preview came out. Would have totally snagged it.

Here is another recent piece. Also, he is working on his next show at G1988 LA to open in September. He will be working on more landscape pieces based on the Dante's inferno. The nine rings of hell. Here are some sneak peeks.
