Today I launched the first in an on-going series of Artist Edition Yo-Yos, wooden yo-yos laser engraved with new works from my favorite artists. The first in the series is from Jason Limon, and we're both quite pleased with the way it turned out: Front: Back: The yo-yos are hard rock maple, turned from a single piece of wood, and made in the United States. The wood and manufacturing technique are the same as the first mass-produced yo-yos made in the US in the 1920s, and they feel absolutely wonderful in the hand. My goal with the series was to provide a low-cost alternative to prints that was a yet another way to keep artwork in your daily life. I've also spent the past 15 years as a professional yo-yo performer, so I'm a bit enamoured of the things. The yo-yos are available now for only $15, and there are a few left. stevebrown.bigcartel.com/product/artist-edition-yo-yo-jason-limon

Looking through the orders, only 4 went to yo-yo collectors/players. So it would seem that Jason's fans scooped up the lions share of the run!

Artist Edition Yo-Yo #2 will be available on Thursday, April 29th, and will feature original artwork by Chicago artist Brian Morris. This edition will also be limited to 30 pieces. The price has increased to $20 on this run, but one lucky order will receive the original ink drawing from Brian, valued at approx. $150 USD. (The additional money from the slight price increase goes directly to the artist!) We're also pleased to announce that we've upgraded our webstore to a new provider to better accommodate the web traffic from these releases. We hit some snags with Jason's yo-yo release, and immediately began working to find a new webstore provider. The new store is live at www.stevebrowngallery.com, and we do welcome any feedback or suggestions for the next upgrade. Thanks for looking!

Thanks Sven! Much appreciated! I've got quite a few more artists lined up already, and the next two editions have already been produced and left the factory! Some really neat stuff coming in the future, and you can expect some surprises as I continue to streamline this whole process and make a little more room for the artists to get really crazy with these.

I've totally neglected the Artchival forums! My apologies...I've been trying to spend less time online these days as I've been incredibly busy with a ton of projects. Releasing today at Noon EST is Artist Edition Yo-Yo #7 by Travis Lampe. Limited to only 30 pieces, these will be $15 each. Artist Edition Yo-Yo #5 featured artwork by MAD, and a few are still available. Artist Edition Yo-Yo #6 featured artwork by Jeremiah Ketner and is sold out. As always, these can be found at www.stevebrowngallery.com.
