OK so I put in what I thought was a really low ball offer on a kaws mickey on ebay. Low and behold the item was mine, I then got an email from a friend who said the pictures the person used were borrowed. I asked the person via ebay to send me photos of it, she seemed very put out by it and finally was able to do so. I am not very good with Kaws Bearbricks I have the last three sets but got them from retailers and need to know if anything looks fishy here? If anyone knows let me know any advice or thoughts would be great.

I used to collect a lot of toys back in the day, especially KAWS stuff. One thing I never got into, for whatever reason, were Bearbricks. So I can't be of the utmost help here. I can't say I have ever heard of any of these being reproduced as fakes in China, though I haven't had my ear to the wall for a few years now. Still, I certainly wouldn't put it past the community of people out there doing this sort of thing. Because of the collectability, KAWS is certainly the main target for these sort of attempts. And I have heard of some KAWS figures, Chums and something else I believe, being bootlegged. The Bearbrick form wouldn't be all that difficult for a Chinese manufacturer to duplicate with a high degree of success either. Hell, I wouldn't put it past some of the figures already being displayed on shelves unknowingly being high quality bootlegs, for which there is really no way to discern the difference. I had wanted the Stormtrooper, and to a lesser extent the Vader, figures for a long time. There sheer surplus of figures available on eBay for being such a limited release, with all of the sellers being located in China (despite the fact that these were exclusively released overseas), always concerned me. I eventually threw in the towel, paid a fair price, and could be content if they are fakes I guess. If the seller in this case is located in Asia, you might have some reason for concern yourself. I would just throw up a post on the KR forum and I'm sure you'll get a more knowledge response fairly quickly. I figure you made some decision already, but thought I'd try to chime in because no one else has.
