Sounds like on of my favorite subject matters! Marine creatures... Add some pretty cool artists like Mike Brown and Jaime Zollars it adds up to a pretty cool show. Looks like Mike Brown is taking it to another level. More info here.

I've been wanting a Michael Brown piece ever since first I saw his resentful and exceptionally well-lit rabbits. I didn't think I would ever get a chance at one that was in my price target, but miraculously, I did... "Octopusspuss." Maybe there's an upside to the bad economy, combined with the unnatural number of great shows opening this weekend? He still has some interesting pieces available in this show, which opens Saturday:

Yes, I was surprised, too. (For those who haven't seen the preview, the pieces above are just $650.) I think he's working a little smaller than usual – which is great (addressing both the economic and wall-space-availability issues). Up to now, the smaller pieces I've seen by him were either a little too cutesy for me, or seemed like studies for his larger paintings.
