Just went to his studio in Riverside this Sat... WOW. Show will feature around 15 or 16 paintings, 5 beautifully framed drawings, a series of sculptural works, one of a kind silk screened editions, two new giclee prints being released and an installation that will just have to be seen in person. I left his studio so impressed. He's really put 110% into this show and heads will be turned. Be posting a few select pics from the visit to our Flickr this week. Will be sure to post a link here once they are up.

Thinkspace presents: Brian M. Viveros ‘The Dirtyland’ On view: October 2nd – October 23rd Opening Reception: Sat, October 2nd 7-11PM with the artist in attendance Los Angeles, CA - Thinkspace is pleased to present the debut Los Angeles solo exhibition from Riverside, California based artist Brian M. Viveros. The Dirtyland will feature a series of new oil paintings on canvas and wood alongside a series of graphite works on paper and a small edition of hand-touched unique screen prints on wood. The exhibition will also showcase a mixed-media installation featuring a new short film directed by the artist alongside sculptural works created in collaboration with artist Gustavo Ponce. Come with us this October to visit The Dirtyland. Just past Dislandia, up a ways past the last house on the left, you'll make your way onto Southern. This is where you'll find artist / surrealist director Brian M. Viveros and his smoking army of mysteriously sexy women, with their dark engaging eyes and signature helmets with cigarettes dangling seductively from their lips. It is here that these women of strength roam free, standing tall with cigarettes burning bright and helmets shinning in the night. ABOUT BRIAN M. VIVEROS: Celebrated fetish artist Brian M. Viveros is internationally embraced for his erotic paintings of doe-eyed beauties with Marlboros dangling seductively from their lips and has also recently been utilizing the medium of film to capture the dark and evocative debris that radiates from his mind. His paintings are a drunken mix of oil, airbrush, acrylic, and ink. In his work Viveros shines a light on his own inner world and society at large and aims to captivate even the most jaded eyes. Viveros’ recognition accelerated with his participation in ‘The Art of Porn’ exhibition held in Switzerland (1997), where he exhibited alongside H.R. Giger. Since then Viveros’ work has been exhibited extensively in North America and Europe in numerous gallery shows and at Aqua Art Miami (2009) and GenArt’s Vanguard Fair (2008). His work has also been featured in numerous books including Les Barany’s ‘Carnivora: The Dark Art Of Automobiles’, Harry Saylor and Carolyn Frisch’s ‘Edgy Cute: From Neo-Pop to Low Brow and Back Again’, Matt Jordan’s ‘Weirdo Noir’, and Erotic Signature’s ‘The World's Greatest Erotic Art of Today – Vol. 1 and Vol. II’. His work has also been featured in the pages of Juxtapoz (no. 118), Secret Magazine, In the Flesh, Skin Two, Drawing Blood, Darks Art, Joia Magazine, Tattoo Extreme, XFUNS Magazine, Let’s Motive, Truce, Digital Temple, Riviera Magazine, Uce Magazine, Ego Magazine, Real Detroit Weekly, .ISM Quarterly, Tattoo Society, Dark Art’s Parlour Magazine, Revolution Art, Iniciativa Colectiva, Fetish Magazine, and was also recently featured on the TV show ‘LA Ink’ (where artist Nikko Hurtado tattooed one of Viveros’ paintings onto a client). Viveros made his directing debut in 2005 with his quietly eerie, boldly stylized short film Dislandia, a psycho-drama revolving around a young girl who exists in a desolate world full of dreamlike images that range from bizarre to symbolic and erotic. Southern, his latest surreal film, returns cinema to the unclean. Southern is an experience of primordial sights, sounds, and sentiment, blanketed by a fog of troubling eroticism and violence. Viveros was also recently featured on the Sundance Channel’s ‘Pleasure for Sale’ where they featured a behind the scenes look at the artist and the dislandic crew that helped him to create his film Southern . Below is the preview link for Brian M. Viveros' exhibit 'The Dirtyland', which opens next Sat, Oct. 2nd from 7-11PM. We're so excited and honored to be hosting Brian's debut Los Angeles solo show and are happy to say he has delivered a simply stunning body of work. As posted here previously, "The Dirtyland" consists of 15 new oil paintings on maple panel, including Brian's largest works to date. Additionally the exhibition will also feature 5 new mixed media works on Twinrocker handmade paper, 3 new hand-embellished silk screen prints on wood (1 of 1 editions), 2 new hand-embellished giclee prints (1 of 1 editions), 4 new sculptural busts + some smaller works on paper (which are being held back for the opening along with a couple gems from Brian's archives). Check out the full digital preview for 'The Dirtyland' here: www.thinkspacegallery.com/2010/10/works.php HOW TO PURCHASE / HOW THIS PREVIEW WILL UNFOLD: We will be contacting people for purchases in the order in which they were added to Brian's waiting list. Speed of response to this mail does not factor in. We'll give the preview a couple days to circulate to help ensure that all on Brian's waiting list have had the chance to view the preview and get back to us with their top choices. Please e-mail your top choices to: contact@thinkspacegallery.com and please be sure to include your best contact number during daytime hours. Due to the demand for this show, it would be very helpful if you can send us your top pick as well as any secondary choices. Hopefully we're able to connect as many people as possible on the show's waiting list. We will begin reaching out and selling works from the preview starting on Mon, Sept. 27th. Until then, if you have any questions or would like a larger file of any image, please drop me a line and I'll get right back to you. Enjoy the show! We will also be publishing 3 new giclee print editions to be released during the opening reception (to follow on-line the Monday following the Saturday reception). Full details on prints to follow soon. There will be no out-of-state print pre-sales before opening night, sorry.

Thanks for the kind words Tom - shall pass on to Brian for sure. He's so nervous for everyone to see this show... by far his biggest and most ambitious body of work to date. Super proud of him.
Just wait to all see the installation... we've only hinted at that thus far.

'The Dirtyland' is starting to come to life... Brian came up today and dropped off the Dirty Troopers and then we headed over to Static Medium to work on the prints for the show... The pre-sales are underway. We'll be updating the preview tomorrow afternoon. Brian also brought up about 10 pieces from his archives that we'll have available in our office area during the opening. Some total gems to say the least!

Sorry about that, wish we could connect more folks with works from this show. We've been building a wait list for this show for almost a year now and the digital preview went out last week to those on our mailing list and to those on the waiting list. We started moving down the waiting list on Sunday afternoon and we're still working our way through the list.
The demand for the show has been building all year, and after his work was featured on LA Ink recently (a client there was getting one of his paintings tattooed on her), things just went through the roof. The power of TV as the say.
We'll be issuing 3 new prints at the opening this Sat and tomorrow I'll be spreading around a secondary preview link that contains 12 additional pieces - three new drawings, some rare out-of-circulation prints, a couple 1 of 1 edition prints on wood and 4 or 5 older original works from Viveros' archives that have not seen the light of day in years (with a couple never being exhibited).
Please be sure to shoot a mail to contact@thinkspacegallery.com if you didn't get the 1st preview and would like to view this one.
