During my move two works which were not crated like other much more expensive works got damaged. 1, was a print from Ronnie Coutrone where the glass broke and seems to have slide down the print scratching it and taking a small gauge out of it, but somehow did not go throw the entire paper. A canvas work by LEBO also packaged poorly appears to have two large scratched on it, and two indents where it appears items in the truck shifted causeing two holes made by metal. I am hoping some gallery owners or art experts on here could help out with a letter to my insurance company. I have contacted two restorers and both will not write a letter and have told me from damaged described the works would probably cost more to repair, if they could be repaired then to replace the works. Any help or ideas would be great.

Your movers should have insurance that covers these accidents. Since it is obvious there is damage and they are at fault, they should submit the claim to their insurers. In the event that they will not submit a claim or cover the damage out of pocket you might want to check your home owners.

The works are covere don my home owners, my insurance company is seeking a little further documentation as they want to make sure works can not be repaired. They will cover the works just need paperwork, so was hoping I could find a gallery or a peron in a gallery to look at images and write a letter, I contacted the gallery that did apprasials for a few works so hopefully they will get back to me, but figured should get ball rolling on this, VIRTU any interest in helping someone out I would say you are an expert.

Take some high-quality photos of the damages and send them to gallery owners and seek out their opinion. Perhaps a framing specialist in your area can also assist you in this matter. Good luck!
