can someone clarify what that animal is? is it an elk of some sort?
also, does anyone notice this is one of the first times that the water goes the whole way across the canvas. usually the pavement, water, or grass is always centered and dimensional in depth. i was looking at this and wondering what was different and I think that is it.

that is a really gorgeous painting! i'm starting to get really, really attracted by his work. especially after the awesome interview in HI:FRUCTOSE.
his style reminds me a bit of the pc game SIM CITY where you could create your own world in the configurator before building a city...

We were lucky enough to have the opportunity to walk through his show at Swarm Gallery and get his insight into some of his pieces. Josh has two signed showcards to give away as well. Just leave a comment here as to which one is your favorite piece, and we will pick two winners and ship it out to you. Contest only open to those who have two stars or have been a member for more than 6 months.

Island and Evacuation employ some tried and true, wonderful techniques of Josh's - but, Sowing, the buffalo piece is my favorite. I'm still excited to see the final piece from the show, though!

I like Evacuation. He does fantastic little raccoons. One day I will add a sketch from josh to my sketchbook of monkeys and goats.

I love ISLAND myself. Always been fascinated with the interplay of his statues and nature. I would love him to do more sharks in his future paintings due to their rapid decline in numbers worldwide. What attracted me about ISLAND were the particular refined hues of blue and the overall masculinity of it.
Great work!!

Island seems like a cousin of my favorite JK painting, Swamp Angel. Swamp Angel is the favored cousin. Man, this image blows me away every time I look at it!

Is it wrong to love one guys work so much? 3 very strong paintings here so far. Think I love sowing the most for it's originality of concept. Nature making nature. The other 2 are variations on swamp angel and rise above.
I love how the fin breaks the water on swamp angel, but island takes the cake in terms of the visible aspect that josh presents the shark in. The bird crap on the statues head looks cool and is a nice touch to aid the decay presented in the painting.

anyone have any word or image on this 4th piece? I was told it was supposed to be very "ambitious".

Yeah, I heard it was ambitious too. Josh was at the opening on Friday ... he said it was around 35% done. Should be finished this week I would imagine. anyone have any word or image on this 4th piece? I was told it was supposed to be very "ambitious". Anxiously awaiting image as well...

rizza, not sure whether or not it was presold to someone that picked up one of the 3 pieces. I'd be surprised if the gallery sold 2 of the 4 pieces to the same collector, seeing as how the waiting list was pretty long. sketchy.....am I correctly hearing that it was presold to someone else that bought one of the 3 pieces?
