While I was totally blown away by a ton of art at Basel, I must say that Sashie was the most exciting "new discovery". I had never been exposed to his work before...and when I saw it in person, I could not stop staring at it. Amazing stuff.
So this is my globe finished. I was happy with the worn look, even though it took many hours. Everything was done with oils and fine brushes, but I know some tiny areas still look a bit rough. I will touch it up later. I didn't want to neatly border every section and just fill it with color. I wanted it to look like it lived outside, that it was decrepit and neglected. I wish I bought 3 of them, but it was a real joy to do it myself. The satisfaction made me happy, and I hope I kept it true to his paintings...even though I could not find any tiny Nintendo consoles to stick on it!
