----- *Artist information* Website - www.mars-1.comUpcoming Shows - Jonathan Levine Gallery (2/26/09) ----- Here's some pics from Mars-1 show the other day with David Choong Lee at Bucheon Gallery (never been there before... really nice space) really liked this one... looks like something i saw in one of my calculus books i was tempted to get one of these. $950/ea and editions of 10. the minor details on the flower stuff around the face & around the arm joints were a little spotty, but still very cool apparently a piece from the top of this dude's head broke off during the opening. this thing is the sh*t. very detailed and clean.. but bronze and very pricey

I don't think most were sold, at least by the time I left. They probably didn't get anything to you yet as they were still bringing stuff in and hanging it when the show started. Mars' technique and detail were incredible as always, however I preferred when his stuff had more of a sense of "place" to them. What he showed here was more abstract.
David Choong Lee's stuff is also amazing as always, though I didn't take any pics. Maybe Rhinomilk can provide some?

yeah, i don't recall any red dots... so either none had sold yet or i didn't know where to look (i only stopped by a little bit on my way home and left pretty early). they only had like 2 copies of the price list floating around, so i didn't look at it much. think the cheapest mars-1 piece was about 3-4K, but i liked the big ones best
i took a few pics of David Choong Lee's pieces that you can see on my flickr (as posted on my sig). his stuff was pretty nice

Cool, a painting or a sculpture? Aside my reservations on the direction of his content, you would never be disappointed with the detail, colors and originality. It seems he spends an immense amount of time on each piece, and it definitely shows.

I like the content too, and love the colors. I'm thinking about a painting as far as potential purchase from this show. Edit: I bought it.

yup, back turned with the glasses on asking for a price list. Will definitely pm you, and do the same. It would be good to meet some fellow collectors, none of my friends are into it at all.

You don't want to meet Rhino in person, he is always trying to bench press people, and will want to show you his river dance moves. hey man.. that wasn't river dance, that was my soulja boy impersonation (you didn't see the crank motion?). did u end up going to this opening? although, i wasn't there very long

hm... i though the geometric spirals were a one time thing for him but looks like he's incorporated it into his newest painting. This will be the cover for Faesthetic #9. I think it's fantastic.

Ooh. Just found out you can buy the issue here for $10. I initially thought there was a print included of the cover but I think you will just have settle for cutting it off if you want to display it. It is an issue about UFO themed art. How appropriate.

Here's a nothing wonderfully subtle work on paper from Art Basel. Wonder if it sold?
