"Bill Arrested" In 1941, Bill discovered Spam, a ham-like product that came in a can. He quickly became addicted to its salty goodness. At first, he was able to get by on a couple of cans a day... but after several months, if he didn't have enough cans of Spam, he would suffer awful withdrawal symptoms – like involuntary levitation, shortness of temper, and squeaky Tourette's Syndrome. He rapidly grew twice his normal size and began to age prematurely. After a particularly hard Spam binge in 1949, he was arrested at a Milwaukee grocery store attempting to hijack a Hormel delivery truck.

hmmm just saw that travis will be at Dragon Con this year. I've never been before (awfully long drive) but that is making it very tempting.

Bill's mug shot will be in the Ron English-curated Godfather-themed show at De La Barracuda next month. There's a thread for it here.

BTW, that's just the prototype for ComicCon. The final figure will be painted to look like one of his paintings.

What a fantastic sculpture! I think it might be odd to digest if it wasn't monochromatic, but I think the bronzish tone of the prototype is pretty fantastic as-is. It would be incredible to see a solo show of one of a kind pieces like this. Congrats Travis.

Ha! That's awesome. I'll definitely have to get one of those. Even though it is based on one of my least favorite louie images.

Tim Burton needs to create a film based on all Travis's characters. Would be insane.

Guillermo del Toro is the director for Travis... and he's already a big fan of Travis' work.

More info on the resin piece:
The pics you're seeing so far are still a work-in-progress. I believe Travis had some revisions after seeing it at SDCC, and there's always tweaking to be done.
It's scheduled for a 1st Quarter release in 2010. The figure will be 9-inches tall, and come in a premium format wooden box with special lining.
No word on pricing yet.

Nobody can say that Travis Louie hates the East coast...... This Saturday rumor has it that he will be signing his amazingly gorgeous book at the Josh Liner Gallery in his home town of NYC.... For those who come early Travis will have a few copies of the comic-con cover and also have a few paintings and drawings for sale. I believe the hours are from 2-6 and then Travis will be going to the standard for another reveling exposition. animalnewyork.com/2009/08/post-discovers-high-line-peep-show/Linear will have full bottles of water...oh and you can check out the group show....... Oh I was kidding about the water bottles but not about the after hour shenanigans... Enjoy...
