Such an incredible campaign this has proved to be. As silly as it may seem, I used to collect Absolut ads from magazines as an youngster. In hindsight, it might've been one of the first serious, concerted manifestations of this obsessive hobby. Loved the thrill of the hunt, finding ones I had heard and read about but didn't yet have lining every last square inch of my room. But more than anything, loved the art itself and the diversity in style the ads provided. It most likely had an unforeseen impact on informing my tastes. I hadn't thought about this phase of my childhood in at least 10 years, so thanks for posting this.
And gotta love the instrumental overdubbed during the first half of this video. It's a Moby track called "God Moving Over the Face of the Waters", most notably featured during the climactic end scene in Heat where Pacino finally gets DeNiro. Such an emotive piece of music perfectly set against the backdrop of one of the most epic character battles ever captured on film. God I love that movie.
