Wow, great year peetov! We really do have similar tastes - I would love an Andrew Hem original, and that Berens is probably the nicest I've seen.

My sentiments, reversely. I do love your Nate Frizzell piece... I don't understand what makes Berens so great

Dan, congrats on your accomplishments and experiences! Sounds like 2010 was a good year for you. That Bagayan piece is also quite mouth-watering. I am always happy to hear when artists themselves are collectors! Cheers!

Before ever seeing his work in person, I wrote an essay about how insanely great it is, and bought my first piece by him... spending more than twice as much as I'd ever spent on a piece of art at the time. What initially seized my soul was seeing the first painting in the essay, "First Snow (Guide Me Home)," on his website. Maybe you just haven't seen the right painting yet. You might also be interested in the incredible interview he gave me last year. I think that with Chris, half of the magic is knowing that those images come from his vast, visionary inner world.

Wow, great interview commandax, I hadn't read that before.
To insomniac, you can mark me down in the "huge fan that has never seen his work in person" category. He's probably my favorite artist and there's probably a pretty good chance that I'll never see his originals in person. I almost bought a plane ticket to Seattle to see his last show, which is something I've never done for an artist before, but I just couldn't swing it. His work, regardless of technique, speaks to me like almost no other artist and I really felt compelled to be in a room full of his imagination.
Anyway, great pickups peetov and churdiales.

1. Post pictures of your top 3 acquisitions this year. 2. Best experiences? Meeting all of the artists @ the Hi-Frutose signing in SF, meeting other people interested in art (I no longer think I am as crazy) 3. Biggest disappointments? Not being able to buy everything 4. Who are your rising stars? They are all sort of new to me, but I think Jen Lobo should garner more attention. 5. Best show of the year? Seeing something in person might change my opinion, but I loved Martin Wittfooth's show.
