Here's a 1939 Disney production cel of the Ugly Duckling. This is a Courvoisier Gallery piece, Courvoisier was a gallery in San Francisco that sold Disney cels from 1938-1946. Courvoisier would take the Disney cel, paint a background for it, put their matte on it and an authenticity sticker on the back, Courvoisier pieces are highly sought after by Disney animation collectors. Thanks pricklypete and bluecat, I'll add a few Disney pieces. Just picked this up yesterday from a friend, it's a collaboration of Mark Ryden, Camille Garcia, Tim Biskup and Gary Baseman, this is one of the nicer ones that they've put together, it flows nicely. WOW thats insane!! i remember seeing that before at the limited addiction forum! i presume it was an auction done at comic con! congrats!

Mark Ryden, Gary Baseman, Tim Biskup and KRK Ryden collaboration. They used to do one of these every year at San Diego Comic Con and auction it off. WOW ive always wanted to see a ryden brothers collab! your colllection is amazing! and please do show some of the disney peices especially if you have any from Glen Keane,(or any of the other nine new men like andreas deja) or some of the nine old men Mark Ryden painting 26 x 34, signed Ryden on the girl's hair. I saw this on ebay once, butttt i wasnt so sure it a genuine ryden. I was put off by the singature because, from what i had seen even his early illustration peices which this was, (as said in the ebay ad) the signature was the same. Did you get it confirmed that it was done by him? Beautiful peice none the less

Hi panditha676 Yes, all the Ryden collaborations were done at Comic Con and auctioned off.
I have a letter from a knowledgeable gallery confirming that the Ryden illustration painting was done by him. The painting is stamped at the bottom, Mark Ryden, with his address. Thanks Russ

Thanks Russ i remember it being stamped but since it was an early adress it was not too sure. Cool that you got that done by them. Just dont want anyone to get ripped off like i almost did, when Mark himself told me that the person i was buying the peice of his I was going to buy had forged his works before, although that peice was authentic as he said( i ended up backing out because Mark would not authenticate it unless it was lowered in price and i agreed with him it was way to much for what it was and i needed an authentication from him for insurance purposes) I tried asking the guy if he could get it signed/authenticated by Mark himself and he said that he and Mark had burned bridges which confirmed my suspicion. I see you also have the Good children peice ^I remmeber seeing that at Debi's gallery,(limagrie) it was at Corpo nason before , did you get it from Limagire or another person? cool snag I hope to one day snag a Ryden OG for my collection, to go with my marion peck peice.

And sweet Hussar peice
you should go to the Equator cafe in pasadena to see some of his early peices that they have including some very famous ones like Vasoline. They are for sale by the owner of the restaurant, and if you are serious he may give you his adress. I remember you said he rarley sells his work, not really, he does you just have to contact him.

Wow, you have so many Simkin's pieces, and they are all so good. Very jealous...
Hi insomniac I don't want you to be jealous, I'm putting these paintings up, so you can enjoy them. I was fortunate to start buying Simkin's paintings early on, for much better prices. I bought the $400 Baitfish drawing at the last Simkins Gallery 1988 show, since having twin boys, I can't spend the way I used to. Take Care, Russ

Russ, thanks for continuing to update and give us a look into your collection, alot of times we either see a collection with quality works, or a collection with alot of works, rarely do we see both like you have collected. Truly Amazing if my collection was one fourth of yours I could stop collecting

Thanks highbrow, you have some really nice art, especially those Tins. The Greg Simkins snail painting called The Overachiever was the first painting of Gregs that I bought, about six years ago for $400. They had a show for Joe Ledbetter at Gallery 1988, one side of the gallery had Joe's paintings, the other side had some of Greg's paintings. Nobody was really looking at Greg's art, I told my friend Bob, that I really liked the Simkins paintings, even though I'd never heard of him, so I bought one. When Simkins starting becoming more popular, a few of his other paintings from this group of six, came up for sale, so I bought them. I thought it would be great to put this whole group back together, I have five of them, could never find the bottom right one. Attachments:
