Sick execution! I'm always excited to see what he comes up with. Very nice.

Sick execution! I'm always excited to see what he comes up with. Very nice. Absolutely. The line work is insanity. Been wanting to add something to the collection for a while now. Came close to grabbing one of the Popeye series at the last Levine. Eventually, wen I have some spare change, I'll get something by Mark on the walls.

In looking back at the process pic from his last piece, it appears as if he executes his work in full digitally first and then traces the lines onto canvas. Does anyone have any insight into the production process?

It looks like he hand draws then scans in computer. Then, enlarge to the size he wants and prints out. Then I don't know. I'll ask him when I see him next...

Not too keen on that....but loved the story behind the painting.
He's got such a unique style. I hope he does a show in the UK sometime soon.

Two of Mark's recent works - Pennybags and Uncle Scrooge - were acquired for the permanent museum collection of the Weismann Art Foundation in LA.

just checked out the pretty modest website for the Weismann Art Foundation in LA. Looks like an amazing collection of work and ever cooler space to display the work. Gotta check out the estate in LA on my next trip out west coast. Anyone know if the Marks work will be show in the estate in CA or big museum in Minneapolis?

Gotta check it out next trip to the west coast. Yeah. Nothing crazy well known, I wouldn't imagine. But Fredrick and his second wife, who collectively founded the institution, certainly had great taste. The collection includes essentially every important name from all significant movements from the late 19th century to the current era. Pretty cool news any way you slice it. Hopefully, this is the beginning of sorts for Mark receiving more critical recognition for his impressive and unique work. He deserves it.

Woops. Completely forgot to post what I logged in to. For those that might not have enough coin for one of his giant works, Western Project has a few 20x14 drawings that Mark recently dropped off after the fact for a very reasonable price. He usually does a few segment drawings to work out the rhythm of the line work, since once he is working on the large painting it gets made up as he goes. So he likes to work out a starting point or idea of what he wants the final pieces to feel like. He uses the same materials, Acrylic paint and India ink. Here's a sample.. Pretty awesome if you ask me.
