My most favorite posts are the ones where you get to see how a person lives with their beloved artwork! Post images of your pieces in their natural environment (even if the natural environment is a complete and utter disaster zone, like mine) an early bedroom set up - lot's o' toys the latest bedroom setup

I agree, I enjoy seeing your homes along with your artwork. Hung's house is just the way I would imagine someone who works in the medical field to look, very clean and organized. I remember somebody posted pictures of their collection and I was just as impressed with their door handles as their artwork (I think it was yours Masao). I guess I should start working on some real photos of my collection.

and this, i believe are owned by the guy on flickr and his wife - pieces from lori earley and mark ryden can be seen in these pics - these people look like incredible collectors - i have so much respect (ignore the people and look for the art): if you peak between the kid and the guy in the photo - you'll see they now have "Drained" as part of their collection as well. they also picked up a piece from ryden's tree show. amazing. their flickr: www.flickr.com/photos/jodavid/

I wish I was JoDavid!! Whoever that is? That's the ultimate of collections, probably the best I've seen. He has Ryden's "Angel of Meat", "Princess Sputnik", and "Regina Gloriae Naturae"(it's in the same spot where "drained is in a different picture). And that's just what we can see I'm sure he has more great stuff. Whoever owns the Ceccoli's and the McGrath has a great collection too. You just ruined this thread for me, I don't want to post anymore of my pitiful collection. ;D

Oh wait, it's that Jo David (and Marlow Harris), I thought I recognized them sitting down. They're cream of the crop as collectors go so now I don't feel as bad. I also noticed Kirsten Anderson is in some of the pictures on their FLICKR page. Their digs are cool, they live in an old church in Seattle.

I'd like to see Kirsten's collection. Just about every gallery owner has an unbelievable collection. Some of Mark Parker's (Nike CEO) collection is on display at the Laguna Museum. and i'd love to see Paul Allen's (Microsoft Cofounder) collection... i hear Allen is really humble too which i really respect. he tells galleries things like "i'll take that painting if it's not a problem... or if nobody else wants it" when he has so much money he can buy out entire shows with ease saw this page and thought it was interesting... www.picassomio.com/important-art-collectors/american-art-collectors.html

Hung's house is just the way I would imagine someone who works in the medical field to look, very clean and organized. LOL. If you only knew.... I like the pictures of my house to look clean and organized but if it's REALLY that way is another story. Nice red wall by the way, very bold. Is your whole house like that? Mine is just boring white. pictures people. pictures. You guys have seen most of mine... Maybe I will take some new pics.

He collects Kenton Nelson's stuff, too. I've said it in a couple different places, but if you like that kind of thing - especially photo-realistic watercolor stuff - check out Robert Townsend, www.rtownsendwatercolors.com - while you can still afford his stuff.

Oh hi... Since my name came up.... Jo and Marlow have a fabulous collection and an amazing house. The photos Marlow took are of another collector who lives in the Northwest. Long Gone John lives up here as well now (talk about an art collection) and it's great to have so many people up here who are buying this type of work. I'm curious if anyone has any reservations about posting the work they own...I know a collector here who's collection would make you weep but he would NEVER let anyone know what he has.

Hi Kirsten! :waves:
i used to not mind - i started collecting by adding pieces from artists who were just starting and usually on message boards and i saw it as a positive thing to show their work to as many people as would look at it.
now that i see my pictures popping up on websites and such, randomly, i start to get a tad weirded out (they're mostly pictures of the art, but sometimes my cats and things show up and it makes me nervous).

Nice red wall by the way, very bold. Is your whole house like that? Mine is just boring white. No, I think I would go mental if the whole house was that color but it's nice for just one room. I think it's a big improvement over the previous owners choice, mint green Most of my house is a couple of slightly different light beige colors and I haven't got around to painting the bedrooms which remain white but I've been debating about going for another bold color in the master. About not posting pics, I only posted that one for a reason because it doesn't really show the layout of my house. Just a chair, light, and red wall. That's something I really don't want potential thieves to know. Most people who post on this board come across as friendly and honest but it's the lurkers you don't know about it. But I hope fear doesn't stop others from just posting what they have in the "Member's Collections" thread. That's one of my favorite things about this site and the other boards, seeing all the great art everybody else is into and finding a new artist to appreciate.

Speaking of amazing collections, if any of you aren't on the preview list for the Roq's 10th Anniversary show - crack your piggy banks and get on the phone / email to line that up. On the note about being reserved about showing personal collections, the Internets are full of wacky people, and I'm pretty understanding of why you wouldn't want to give such wackies a guided tour of your home and valuables.
