I didn't see a thread for this artist, so here we go. I first saw his work at the Shooting Gallery a few years ago and was hooked. I love how consistent his style is, and how he ties every piece in the show together. Like a giant graphic novel. My girlfriend bought me this piece for my birthday. It's one of his earlier works and lacks a lot of the splattering and random brush marks his current work has, but I love this painting for the layout and simplicity. The colors are amazing too, this looks like it has been aged and the colors have slightly changed. Someday I will get another one of his works. I think he still has a print available at the Slingshot Press site: www.slingshotpress.net/And here is his homepage, with links to more prints as well: www.paulchatem.com/

A bit surprised that I had to dig this out of the dust but it's definitely time to bump Paul's art: He has a show at Shooting Gallery in SF right now and the pieces are inredible: www.shootinggallerysf.com/shows/island-of-the-colorblind/I came across his work last December in a show in Hamburg, Germany. Unfortunately I was a bit too late for a purchase. But his "articulated art" fascinated me immediately. His color palette has apparently not changed that much since 2008 but the complexity of his pieces exponentially increased. Here are some examples: from his current show here is an example of articulation Would be interested in your opinion!

Great review creep! And thanks for showing the art in action. Wish I could have seen the show in person myself...hopefully I will have the chance once in the future.
Did he mention any upcoming projects? What's his character like?

Thanks muschelschubser, He's a great guy. Met him a few years ago at one of his other shows, and always had an easy time talking to him. You can see at the receptions that he is not only approachable, but loves talking to the fans. His attitude, and amazing art, really make you want to buy it all Not sure what projects he has coming up next. I will be interviewing him soon so I might be able to find out. If it all works out right, I might be doing a limited edition print with him as well. A very unique print, never done before with anyone.

I love to talk to the artist during the openings. The only way I can educate myself with respect to their art and ideas behind certain pieces or even their whole work in general.
Looks like Paul is the perfect artist for this purpose.
Yeah, I need to dig more into his older pieces. So far I'm only familiar with his recent (last 2 years) body of work.
