I'm not usually a huge fan of DFACE, but am loving the Roy Litchtenstein feel on the piece above.

I was very impressed by the bugs and butterflies, or flutterdies as they are so called.

Dropped by D*Face's studio recently for a look around whilst the work was in progress. Some really interesting directions he is taking with this show. I grabbed a lot of shots, but here's a selection on AM. arrestedmotion.com/2011/04/studio-visits-dface/

Bugs i suppose look awesome in the flesh! Curious what would be the Dface touch individually on them!

Hi Sven, were those flutterdies badges? Look great!

not badges... they were butterflies he collected / bought and dissected. the bodies are now spray tips with the wings glued to the sides. they look really effective.
the bugs have spraytip heads, and they look like mean little robots.
i'd like to get one of these. might look good with the bast bug boxes i have. apparently they will be 'reasonably priced' as will the books, which are pretty nice looking too.

Now i get it.....
Next question would be 'How reasonable is reasonable?'...Time will tell.....thanks Sven.Cheers!

Yep, didn't get and requested a few weeks ago. Badly want a Flutterdie piece, but with an opening the same night, my ship may have sailed if they aren't releasing these until the opening. Posted a shot of D*Face at work on his mural over on our blog - haven't seen that up anywhere yet. Looks to be cool once finished!

Not a huge fan of his work, but enjoy his public art installs and this is spot on.. love it! i wonder how long that lasted in place? As sad as it is, I was literally keeping an eye out on the national news tonight to see if this got coverage. With the way the networks were covering Sheen prior to Libya and Japan, and his tour en force, it wouldn't have surprised me one bit if they used to fill some time. I bet it wasn't in place long enough. I'd be interested to hear if any of the local networks caught footage of it and put it on the local nightly news.

Anyone know what they're charging for the single Flutterdies tomorrow? $1200-1500 for the single ones. Pretty ridiculous!?! I think so. btw. This was a bored experiement in the woeful act of quoting oneself. Surprised if affording me the option to even do so. Don't blame me if the world folds in on itself as a result

Yah, for that price, I would rather have bought one of those dissected books that actually had some D*Face imagery on them. I almost almost pulled the trigger but didn't. Oh, and more pics from the show here for those interested.
