Aron's work is just gorgeous. I was lucky enough to get one a while back; he is definitely out of my price range now. Every single one I saw at Arcadia this year blew me away; such a sombre look attached to his body of work, charcoals and paintings alike.
There is also an Andrew Hem... who keeps getting better with every new piece of work.
Also, Matt Rota, who I recently discovered; brings to mind Rob Sato, a less-infatuated with the symmetrical chaos of decrepit buildings, highways, planes, and tree-like forms, as is Sato's work to me. Nonetheless, leaving their similar mediums aside, their work tends to overlap, but Rota brings out the ghoulish and/or gory factor to play more frequently.
And, Caitlin Hackett... aren't her works on the life-size side? The ones here are pretty accommodating in length and width, not rock-climbing (wall) material. Another one whose work I admire...
Did anyone else make it to this show last weekend? I had a great time, packed house and awesome art work. The Hem was my favorite. My date's favorite was the Brophy piece which was amazing as well. Who else saw the show and has opinions???
