I think what's interesting is some of those sculptures made from US currency are already inherently worth over $1-2K because of the materials used. I wonder what the highest amount he's used before in a piece.
Haha, you guys should follow me on twitter ( twitter.com/showtellgallery ), I post up photos of my collection from time to time. Once I actually take the time to take non iphone photos of my collection I will start a thread on here.
The money stacks are fantastic. I love the concept.
His concepts are great. I'm going to try to make the show opening.
Simon... Can't wait to see more of your collection. I use the same excuse about not starting a collection thread. You make some time and I'll make some too!
like his work a lot and can appreciate the skill however hanging such a piece wouldn't be for me. I say this regarding his laser cut work. I suppose it's really no different then spending money on any other work but there is something about the in your face nature of literally hanging $1,000 on your wall. I guess I work to hard for my money to truly appreciate this.
i noticed at the show that one of the stacks was starting to come unglued a little bit.
This is done deliberately by Scott. He only glues the middle 2/3s or so of the bills tops and bottoms together, so as to leave the edges unglued and have a less compressed and more natural stacked look and feel.
