since his successful POW print release, I started getting more serious about following Shok's work, and Im blown away with this guy's talent, skills, and originality.. here are some more recent works I picked from his Facebook:
An attempt to paint a portrait of life itself with all it’s ups and downs. A play on the slang expression for life imprisonment ... the funny thing is, we’re all trapped in life and there’s only one way out.
I think it’s easy to get caught up in the everyday stuff and I wanted to make a piece to remind myself what a beautiful thing it all is.
A mayfly with wings of delicate smoke dissipating on the wind represents the ephemerality of most street-based art. Mayflies only live for a day or less just as many beautiful works of art are casually destroyed, often by children or the authorities.
This work also stands as a tribute to all of the art that was destroyed during preparations for the Olympics. Despite being sanctioned and much loved by the community and fans worldwide, many paintings were eradicated or replaced with corporate advertising.
