hi. this is my first time posting. i do art and people have pointed out that w/in my "body of work" there is a bit of dissimilarity in styles. one of the probs i am having is choosing a style to further explore. i would love some feedback and opinions from fellow artists/art appreciators. if you can, please comment on if the styles are too unlike and if so-what ones do you like the best. i'd really appreciate it! please play nice-i'm a newbie... thanks!! SAMPLE 1 SAMPLE 2 SAMPLE 3 SAMPLE 4 SAMPLE 5

I'm a sucker for the number 4 style, but that's more a matter of taste.
But i guess you just have to follow your heart (what's the most fun for you). Plus, Sample 1 and sample 4 are not that much different.

thanks!! i appreciate your comments. if you are on myspace and have time, it would be awesome if you could let me know what other ones are similar to the style of 1 and 4. i know it sounds silly that i can't tell with my own art but when i tried to do a series (one of which was #4) people didn't know that the 3 pieces were supposed to go together. i even used the same paper, framing and medium~lol! i was oblivious that my art/style varied that much til people started pointing it out...maybe i can claim i'm not a visual type. www.myspace.com/julies_artcheers!

First of all, I don't see why anyone would need to limit their style. I do realize that if an artist is all over the place and no one can even recognize their work because nothing is similar then it may be harder for things to catch on. But then again, who knows what style will necessarily catch on and be accepted the best... it's all a matter of personal taste.
But anyways, I see any of these samples of your work being well accepted by various types of collectors. I would also say that you should just do what you like doing regardless of style. Maybe you'll come to a point where you do different styles of work for different types of shows. I just personally think that limiting or focusing on a specific style when you may feel like drawing in a different one as somewhat silly. Like, why only travel down road A, when you can travel down road A and B at the same time?
I've always felt like art should be about doing what you want, not what you think collectors will want. But then again, I've never been in a position to try selling my work for a living.

Most of the black and whites fit in nice with 1 and 4. But as said above, just paint/draw what you love the most.
