I'm travelling to India next month with my GF who is an art curator for a major institution. While she may be an expert in historical Indian art she doesn't know so much about contemporary Indian art, which is where my passions lie. Does anyone have any information to share or recommendations for contemporary galleries in Southern India? We will start our trip in Hydrabad and be travelling to random spots (researching ruins) in the south. Even if I can't see the art in person, I'm still curious. I've watched the TEDtalk on contemporary Indian artists already. I'm specifically interested in Indian street art. I'm just guessing it must be widespread. Thanks!

Are going anywhere near Chennai? They usually have a big festival of modern and contemporary art in March.
You should check out Salar Jung Museum in Hydrabad and Safion gallery in Mylapore.
Most of the graffiti and street art is up north or in big cities like Mumbai and Delhi. You might find few walls in Goa or Bangalore.
Good luck.
