One of my favorite things is to visit art museums when I travel to new cities. I also am a member at my local San Diego Museum of Art.
I hope many of you have a similar passion for art museums. Use this thread to post reviews or experiences that you have while visiting art museums around the world. Lets hear about special exhibitions going on in your town. Post pictures of your favorite works of art at your home museum or a museum you visit. I'm continually surprised by the strength of a collection in museums that are somewhat under the radar.

Cool topic.
ICA Boston -
Great Swoon pieces in the front area and in the artrium. One of the best gift shops I've ever been to (not in size but in relevance to what I collect) Went there for the Os Gemeos show which was great. Didn't get a sense for the rest of their collection The building is a work of art in and of itself with some interesting rooms that look right down on the water. However, for such a large structure its a bit of a let down that there is really only art on the top floor.

If you come to NYC, I strongly encourage you to take a day off, rent a car, and head up to both Dia:Beacon and Storm King Art Center.
Dia:Beacon is my favorite 'museum', hands down. It is 100% a singular point of view. It does not attempt to be everything to everyone. Dia:Beacon IS 1960's-1970's minimalism/conceptualism/etc. From amazing Richard Serra torqued ellipses, to a stunning display of Agnes Martin's works, from a fine collection of John Chamberlain sculptures to the largest collection of Dan Flavin works I've seen, from a perfect overiew of Robert Ryman's work to the most unique installation of Warhol, all contained in a building that itself is a work of art(seriously, Robert Irwin did the final design). It is my art mecca.
Storm King is nearby and keeps the magic going. It is an enormous sculpture grounds, with di Suvero, Serra, Alexander Calder, Grosvenor, and more, and more, and more.
Well, well, well worth the day trip.
