Hey Prettypikey, I bookmarked your blog. Mac/Retna collaboration is at the #1 top of my collecting list, as I think they are truly modern masters. It pains me that I missed their show last year. Also likewise a fan of Vhils and Herakut. My favorite "dead old guys" are all 16th-17th century Dutch, though, not Italian.
Introduced myself earlier: but here are some more details:
Favorite artist of all time: Vermeer
Favorite painting of all time: Grotto in the Gulf of Naples by Karl Blechen
Also like dead artists: Dali, Calder, Sargent, Klimt, Schiele (Egon), DeHooch, Rembrandt, Brancusi, Velasquez, Dix, Bacon, Picasso, Millet...
Also a fan of living artists: Chris Berens, Boxi, EVOL, Kate McGuire, Jinyoung Yu, Lee Bul, Kristen Schiele, Wayne Thiebaud, Herbert Baglione, David Choe, Antony Micallef, Ian Francis, Edwin Ushiro, Andrew Hem, Brendon Monroe, . I'm interested in the works of BestEver, Yoksay Yamamoto (sculpture), Brendon Monroe (scupture) and John Park.

Jediak, Kim and Weezy; Thank you for the warm welcome! I'm glad you checked out the site. I'm not happy with it yet, but I'm kinda teaching myself web design by trial and error... no experience with code or html or any of that crap. The home page is going to change soon so I hope you'll check back later
Kim, I'm originally from a small town about 2 hours North of Sacramento so I am definitely familiar with the area. :-)
Weezy, I'm glad to hear you like Mac and Retna too. I'm just blown away by those two, there aesthetics really compliment each other. I'd love to see them paint live some time.
As far as "classical" art goes, I've always been fascinated with the development of Italian Renaissance art from what it was in the late Gothic period to it's culmination with masters like Raphael, Michelangelo and Da Vinci. But that's a whole different thread

Grew up in Davis, near Sac. 'Rents are still there. Davis has Natsoulas Gallery-- try not to miss the annual ceramics conference each year to discover fresh artistic talent from No. Cal. schools. And he's a well-connected curator who's always showing something interesting.
What galleries are in Sacramento that have great shows?

Name: Jesus Where are you from: Mexico... Although I have been living in the US for quite some time... What do you do: teacher Why are you here: Learn... I esp. liked a comment I read here where somebody mentioned 'better to buy A work from B artists, than B work from A artists'... totally agree... glad I saw it now, before I commit (more) mistakes... What message boards do you frequent: Expressobeans, some specialty forums (Keyes, Dolk, etc...) Fave artists: too many to mention; would like to buy more than what my budget allows me to. Although, if I had to pick one I would say I am a big Sorren fan. Too expensive for me, but I intend to win the lottery soon... so, be on the lookout for me Mr. Sorren. How did you find this message board: someone from Expressobeans recommended me trying this forum to search for Esao's 'The Thinker'... no luck yet...
