That was a nice piece. I wonder if there's something fishy going on?

Seriously Gamma, that's awful. I totally agree with Commandax, it definitely sounds fishy. The Jux auction has had so many issues with pieces going missing and outrageous shipping fees. Very sorry to hear about your piece.

I hope they don't try f!$#@$ me. I just paid close to $6K in advance. If my four pieces aren't there, I might take legal action even if they refund my money.

HI....this is from a posting from a a board member in another thread: "I bought the Untitled Richard Colman from the Juxtapoz auction: upperplayground.com/wordpress/?p=21431only to be informed last night that it was stolen. : (........ I hope the piece that i won which is on the way to Sydney (after paying non-reasonable shipping cost apparently from UPS) is the one which i really got! Well, i should know it in about two days or so. The auctioneers gave me the shipping info.

Response from Charitybuzz:
"Yes your pieces are being held securely and will be transferred to the Juxtapoz studio for you to pick up when you arrive in San Francisco. The theft was very unfortunate and resulted in the loss of 12 pieces from the gallery show in Los Angeles. We were extremely disappointed to hear about the theft and have asked Juxtapoz to ensure the safety of the remaining pieces. I am very sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment it has caused your friends."

Good thing to hear that the pieces are secured! Its discouraging though to bid again if you're from overseas and you have to deal with the shipping issue

Scored the fantastic slick and Lena Revenko pieces for sarcastically low prices.
Do feel a little bad for the charities though...

I don't know yet.
It was pretty high for my two from the last auction but they arrived very well packaged and totally sound so can't really complain.

Hmmm, I've just got in and found two emails from charitybuzz. One informing me that I have successfully placed a bid of $854.92 on shipping and then one twenty minutes later informing me that I've won said auction.
I'm not happy about this at all as I'm only having two pieces shipped, one is small, the other bigger but hardly massive, so to be charged more than my winning bids in shipping costs is verging on extortion not to mention my displeasure at being entered into auctions for shipping without negotiation. I've emailed them but don't expect to get a reply over the Christmas period which means I am going to be stung for shipping here.
I'll be emailing jux too as this is really very poor service. This has really pissed me off.

Most people paid or was charged almost the same amount as shipping and the winning bid. This is really extortion. I mean the sizes wouldnt really amount to the actual shipping costs even if you use UPS. There is something happening on the "handling fee" on the end of the auctioneer, that why most people prefer picking the piece up Juxtapoz. That's why i did not bid again, dont like the hassle of negotiating far too much for shipping issues.

I think the problem is on the Jux side, not Charity Buzz. Charity Buzz is located in Connecticut and is responsible for facilitating the auction.
Jux was responsible for shipping the pieces out to the winning bidders and it was Jux who lost the pieces in their warehouse. From what I understand it was Jux who was responsible for setting the prices for shipping and handling.
When I got in contact with Charity Buzz they immediately responded that they would only charge me the actual shipping cost once they received the invoice from Jux and the UPS store. Unfortunately after the first auction I felt screwed by Jux, not the auctioneers.
BTW, the person I dealt with at Charity Buzz was extremely helpful and if anyone needs a contact there please PM me for their contact info.

I've been waiting for a refund from Charity Buzz as my piece has been missing (Stolen according to Jux). Charity Buzz emailed me a letter indicating that a full refund has been issued. I haven't been able to get any refund from them yet after two weeks. (A month since I've been charged). I've even emailed to Charity Buzz's financial manager twice and haven't heard anything from him. Something's really fishy even though I've been in a great communication with a Charity Buzz rep who's been very responsive.

All these extremely high S&H costs are fishy... I've been paid less to FLY sometime over to the UK, than what they seem to be charging you guys. You should get someone trustworthy in LA to handle all of this. Pick up all of your pieces and spend one day shipping them to each of you. It'd be better to pay/tip that person than to have these people give you the runaround... Good luck.

I'm picking up my five pieces from Jux office, tomorrow. I'm driving to L.A. on the 27th. Let me know if I can be any help in picking up your pieces...that's if you live in L.A. area.

Thanks to the forum member for supplying me with a contact address for someone helpful at charity buzz, I'll drop them a line later and see what they can do. I'll be surprised to obtain much in the way of resolution until after Christmas though and it's going to be a little aggravating to be down so much cash until this can be resolved..
And, yeah, I could probably fly form the UK to LA myself to collect for less than Jux/Buzz have billed me here.

Does any one know how much that McGrath piece went for. I was going to big on it but with all the missing/stolen stuff and the absurd shipping charges I decided not to.

charitybuzz assure me that they worked with UPS to keep the shipping costs as low as possible and $855 is what they were quoted to ship my two pieces.
I am right to think this is dementedly high aren't I?! I've had plenty of larger, heavier, and much higher dollar work shipped from the U.S. in the past for a tiny fraction of that quote.
