Hey, I just noticed this thread... Glad you like the Elicser pieces and I am glad they got there in time.
Sounds like a killer Christmas. :-)

$350 is not bad for 'Lost Thought' if there are any left...

Right now I am thinking why a three day package from framers which left on Tuesday did not arrive on Monday, WHY , WHY.

When Gallery 1998 says "limited" - does that specifically mean now 'in this size and medium?' ... And why can I buy a 'limited print' from another publisher to have them printing 500 more limited 'minis' a year later.
Accessibility is cool, and I'm all for it - but, it seems like something 'limited' should stay that way, for a year or two at least.

Galleries do me a favor if you it sold before the preview just take it off the preview list.... Especially when you take the best ones for yourself or to your top collectors.... done b!tching even though it was already sold I loved this piece and find it breathtaking the price was amazing and would added it to my collection in a nanosecond. distant second

That's some cool stuff evilchoy. Who is the artist? looks like Dan Quitana at Last Rites gallery. sorry evilchoy didn't get what he/she wanted (although your reasons for whining about it are odd) www.lastritesgallery.com/shows_quintana.php

not whining just giving my opinion concerning a trend of galleries sending out previews of items that are already sold. I think that is quite rude and not worth my time as a collector to wait for a preview and be disappointed that many of the pieces are already sold, or in some cases taken by the gallery. But ever since the tin show at Copra there as been a trend of galleries to send out show previews with many pieces already sold....If it is sold before sending out the email take it off.
I guess giving your opinion is whinnying for you rhino I would suggest to ignore my post in the future.
Anyway Genevieve is not at Last Rites anymore and they have new person working with Paul kinda met her Friday night before the Mars show and she seemed nice.

how can you tell if a piece has been sold before the preview? what if they send out the preview at different times?

well that is going back to getting on super-double secret probation preview list discussion we had in the past. It is a preview not a second tier sale. Again if that is the case I will take my money else where, and not deal with the galleries that continue to do double previews. I am also one that believes that it is okay for galleries to hold back a few items from the list to have for those you actually go to the show..

I figure it's their gallery, their rules. As long as they're fair about implementing their own policy, I have no complaints. If I want first dibs on the art, I guess I'd better start my own gallery. Frankly, I'm happy to just be on the preview list, if I haven't bought a lot of work from the gallery in the past. I like to see what other people have bought. It gives me some perspective on the work that remains available.

I love the fact that a few of you ladies and gents hate it when people try to have opinions on the board, very welcoming.
But commandax that idea i flirt with a lot but I feel that I may go bankrupt by keeping all the pieces myself. I have little self control.
Speaking of self-control I am too lazy to put this in the self-promotion file but my newest show about women gambling is airing tonight at 9:00pm on A&E please enjoy. It is called Intervention In Depth: Compulsive Gambling

I am confused about the point of a preview, I guess for me the lesson learned is to hound the galleries, and spend less time posting.
Good Luck Genevive on focusing on your art.

Thanks for the definition of what a preview is but if find it funny that since we are talking about online previews i need to quantify it each time. This conversation I my opinion is mute. Thanks for the gallery perspective.

I am thinking two things
1. Why I am a huge fan of the artist I hate waiting for my comm. to be done, now seems after the solo show is done.
2. I am almost half way done paying off a piece of artwork that costs more then anything I have purchased besides my house, but so, so worth it, I am so excited and again art I may not get for 15 months.

Anyway Genevieve is not at Last Rites anymore and they have new person working with Paul kinda met her Friday night before the Mars show and she seemed nice. Hey there evilchoy, this is Samantha Levin. I had to call Mr. Louie to match your username with the actual person I met at the opening. Thanks for your compliment and it was very nice to meet you the other week. As for what was said about me not being at Last Rites anymore: My contract as gallery director is ending in April & I have decided not to renew it.... Paul and I are very close and on very good terms and he has asked me to stay on-board the Last Rites team as a consultant to the gallery. I helped Paul find my successor, Samantha Levin- I like her very much, and think she is a great person for the position of director. We are sending out a formal announcement about the transition this month.... As Genevive stated I will not officially be taking on the position as director until Last Rites makes the formal announcement. I am very excited about the new digs and am very happy to have Genevive stay on as a consultant. steveinca, I certainly hope to keep up the good work and, indeed, introduce to you some new talent as well as bring in some new work from your favorites.
