Went to scope last night for the opening while there were some great work and for the most part of few of the "Artchival" galleries really did well.
Levine: I have my own problems with New York galleries but they did an amazing job with their booth. The CRG's were amazing and filled with color... the plushes were ehh...but what really left me wanting to open my wallet was the Soto...entitled (i think) "Don't want to grow up" and valued at 15 g's was well worth it and really outstanding. Overall everything worked well in the booth.
Shooting Gallery: No Travis Pieces!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh well. But the Ron English Pieces were hysterical one was a painting of a T.Rex fighting Batman and Batman and Robin in what looked like a picture from a year book all done in bright colors and what looked like children drew it. Justin(?!?!?) the gallery owner said that Ron asked kids in his family to draw some pictures and he reproduced them. Every time somebody walked by they had to do a double take. The Greg Gossel were okay.....But the EriK Foss seemed dated and tacky. A approx. 12x8 foot american flag made out cardboard and condoms....nuff said.
David B. Smith Gallery:
First of all this was the first time I see a keyes in person and loved them. David said that people started lining up the night before since he told everybody that it was first come first served. Kudos to those who slept outside and got first crack at two great paintings. I came in thinking flutter was my favorite but honestly the colors and the intensity of the shark one was amazing ... worth the 4.5 they wanted for them.
I had the privilege of seeing Gregory Euclide works up close and man what a talent. It looked like an explosion on paper.
Now for the negative the rest were blah many of the piece were at Art Basel not only last year but I saw a few that were there 2 years ago. A few artist were over represented. So it was kinda like deja vu going up and down the aisle.

They were originally exhibited in Jeff's 'Storm Clouds' show at Levine in 2007.

I'm thinking how cool it would be to be Lance Armstrong, for more reasons than one. Last night's twitter from Armstrong.

lol! Thanks for the link. Is that Octomom or Angelina Jolie? Octo mom does not look that good. That is Octomom. Here is the artist's opinion on her. Daniel Edward's feels that the Octo-Mom is deserving in a way of attention she has received from the world, saying "I think the world is in desperate need of a maternal figure who is exclusively devoted to being a mother. There is something almost religious and pure about her in that way." ...and I happen to disagree that there was anything pure or responsible about her actions.

That lady is far from pure or responsible. I've read that she's had several plastic surgery ops in an effort to look like her idol, Angelina. Having an additional 8 babies when you already have 6, with no visible means to support them except for govt aid, is far from responsible.

I should really stop spending, but when a print you've wanted for ages comes up at cost.... well.....

yeah (and i'm missing another print or 2 in that photo i think i'm in the minority, but i truly enjoy building up a collection of an artist's work, rather than a "key" piece here or there. there's certainly a lot to be said for diversity, but when i fall hard for an artist, i have a difficult time stopping

Amazing TIN Wall, I sadly have fallen to lack of wall space and am thinking I have about 6 tin prints which will never get framed.
On a up note I am over 50percent done and one step closer to the elusive club of Joe Sorren ownership.

Charity, is there a hotline we can call to help with our addiction?

Beautiful works by Chloe Early. The two I would love to purchase are 'Boundary' and 'Passage'. Moments like these ... I dislike my discipline on 'savings'.
