Was going to say, if you're going to use Yodel to ship art then you might as well save some money by dropping it off a tall building and hoping it gets there that way. Glad it got sorted though - you were lucky this time!

thinking about how can a few of AM collectors look for a small, remote town and build a massive Tadao Ando museum... just came out being inspired by Naoshima island in Japan... you art collectors, you need to put this spot on your "must to visit" list in your lifetime! try to stay at the benesse House's oval room. the structure was designed by tadao ando (and probably with james turrell's help) it'll make you feel like a mr/ms 007! where else in the museum would you feel like you're wandering all alone without security guard watching u??? Feeling pleased with myself for having orchestrated 5 different galleries in LA to get 5 artworks into the same shipping crate which is now on its way to me. Can't wait for it to land on my doorstep!

That's the downside of 5 in 1. If something goes wrong, it will be a whooooole lot worse. Needless to say, I'm not sleeping so well at the moment, regardless of the weather.

James Meyer is, by far, my favorite art writer. His book Minimalism: Art and Polemics in the Sixties should be read by everyone. I wish he would re-write David Anfam's Abstract Expressionism. Anfam possesses incredible knowledge and has access to great resources, but he is a really poor writer.

I don't have an instagram account - is there any way to see all the postings? Unfortunately I don't think so - instagram is pretty non existent on the web, you have to have the app.... there's 3rd party instagram browsers - like web.stagram.com but you'll still have to sign up for an account but at least you should be able to see the pics with the #myartcollection tag.

I'm thinking of a very large commission that would include 10 artists. In the past year I started dating one of the worlds experts in South Asian art and she has really opened my eyes to new things and I'd like to incorporate this into the artists I love. The 10 Avatars of Vishnu Matsya-Fish Kurma-Tortoise Varaha-Boar Narasimha-Half Man half Lion Vamana-Dwarf Parashurama-Rama w Axe Rama- Bowed Warrior Krishna Buddha Kalki- an apocalyptic horse rider
My idea is to use Russian nesting dolls and have these 10 avatars painted on a set of 10 (1",1.5",2",2.5",3.5",4.5",5.5",6.5",8",10")
The fun part is to try and match artist to these avatars! Of course it will have to be within my budget but I've enjoyed making 2 lists. One list is if money were no object (e.g. Todd Schorr painting Krishna, Mark Ryden doing Buddha) and another is artist that I might be able to afford if I save and scratch to do so (e.g. Audrey kawasaki painting the tortoise in on either list!)
Care to share opinions?

What a lineup that would be! Worthy of any museum.

There was a 'flipper family' running around SDCC getting all of the exclusives. I personally saw them get 4 large Kawasakis.

Worthy of any museum. Great list but it will be very difficult to get it done obviously. But good thing with your plan as they are separate pieces so you can be flexible. Also, some artists are hesitant to paint three-dimensional surfaces. It might be better to ask artists who have done customs before.

Is it bad that an image of a school of dolphins popped into my head when I read 'flipper family'? That is too bad. I don't like to see the gouging that occurs on eBay. I was thinking of asking my friend to pick one up but after looking at the image more, I decided I didn't like it that much and I didn't want to buy it just to buy. Plus I am still trying to stay away from prints
