Another sneak preview from Prism: Looks like Os Gemeos are starting to warm us up... can't judge based on the preliminary stage of their artistic process... ;-)

^ Now that I like - Are there any other sneaky pics? More... Cheers for that Sleep, I quite this one of the bunch, but agree with V, that first one is fantastic also. I know it's been said a hundred times over, but these type of pieces truly need to be seen up close to be appreciated.

On a side note, has anyone seen any of the completed portrait type works?

the first one is great. some of these others look strong too. I personally think I am more partial to the works with a pattern background but that is being picky. the twins skills are definitely more refined. I wonder if these pieces are the standard 5 x 6.5ft or whatever.
I heard that those sized works will be $140k....anyone else hear anything else similar or different?
also, has anyone had any luck with contacting the gallery? I recently heard that the people who run this gallery are like early 20's.

Must be nice to have a rich dad buy you a gallery...
Arent these the guys who changed the dates and titles on the Richard Hambleton paintings in order to hide their auction histories?

No, no exactly but there is a connection. The Hambleton episode was orchestrated by Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld and Andy Valmorbida. His younger brother P.C. Valmorbida runs Prism with Jared Najjar.

I wonder if these pieces are the standard 5 x 6.5ft or whatever. I heard that those sized works will be $140k Well, I figured it would be something ridiculous like that, but was anticipating - or hoping nothing that much more than 100k. In either case, I will happily put my foot in my mouth regarding their price appreciation being paced and sustainable. There hadn't been anything public all last year up until Fermata to reference and compare. But as of December 2010 at the NIA Basel group show, the two 6.5x6.5ft paintings were still priced at 53k. If those are now almost 3x what they were only a year and a few months ago, you'd have to agree that falls into the too far too fast category. Obviously, PRISM is known for juiced prices and shifty practices, but that can't account for such a ludicrous price adjustment. Whether they warrant these prices or not is a different story. They are certainly large paintings, there is absolutely demand for their work, there were some historic auction results last year, and perhaps prices were suppressed at that 50k primary range for too long. But at 150k, even for something that is 6x6ft, there's arguably better value in other artists out there.

I'll wait to reserve judgment until I see the prices with my own eyes though.

i just wanted to clarify that I am not 100% certain that the prices will be $140k, but I did get the impression they would fall in that neighborhood. that is why I posted to see if anyone else had any information.
i would have to agree that if the works are priced here, it is too expensive. however, after doing some more reading up on Prism and based on personal experience, I would not put too much stock in what the they price the works at or if they sell or don't sell. I get the sense that what happens at this gallery with shows and sales may not be a fair assessment of an artist's true market.

The prices are definitely 100-120K for the lager pieces.

Out of interest did anybody get any response to emails sent? I have dealt with this gallery many times over the years and have a large work from their McGee show a few years back. I have always had a response with respect to availability and prices but for some strange reason on this show not a single word after sending several emails over several months. Poor form IMO.

it would not surprise me in the slightest if the work was all promised out already or perhaps they know they can sell it at their convenience and are getting ready for the opening. I know that the twins are very busy transforming the gallery into their own wonderland of sorts. from what I hear it should be pretty damn solid and definitely worth the trip for those going to the opening.

I agree and can fully appreciate that, but a simple holding email to state that on this occasion there would be no electronic previews would have satisfied. Simply not responding is not the correct approach IMO.

I wouldn't be surprised if you received an email the day of or the day before. I have a suspicion that the twins work up all the way to the opening, then proceed on from there. There's still almost two weeks before the show opens. I have nothing in confirmation, but just have a gut feeling of sorts.
It still doesn't make it right for not sending a reply stating this...but to make you feel better, I think we are all on the same boat.

i was just told that i would receive more info as and when she gets it, and yes the gallery is inundated with requests and also managing the space for the twins so it will be quite crazy in there right now.

To be fair I did get a response from Jen this evening and an apology for the delay. As Henry described they have been inundated so all good this end now. Really excited about seeing the shots from the show.
