Looks like someone out there has a sense of humor, don't know if it's the thief or someone else. Although it is really a "stealing" when you take street art? It's public right? Here is the original Faile that was pasted for their show. After that one was stolen, these appeared shortly afterwards. They read "And In The Darkness They FAILED To Stay Up" and at the bottom it reads "History is made once again, it should have been a STENCIL". The evil hand of Ebay appears over the girls shoulder. I like Faile, but not so keen. Prices are a bit steep too. They went from being very good in 2006 (300 dollars or so for runs of 12) then they shot up in price as people were flipping for 1000s. They have stayed at this elevated level, despite the weaker market. If they sell out, that will be the real barometer I guess. *shrugs*
It's always tricky when you have seen pieces for so much less to judge objectively...especially when they are not as strong as much of the earlier work.
Also, I don't like writing on art....whilst Faile has always had a bit, especially with 'Faile'....it's all over these. Slogans all over the place.

Wow these are quite pricey, wasn't expecting that for the screen prints.

Prices for the originals seemed reasonable while the prices for the prints seems ridiculous. $2,800 for editions of 20 when many of their editions of 12 don't sell for that much on the secondary market seems way too high. I think their might be a much higher percentage of "lottery" players winning this time around. This is sort of like asking people to pay $12 million per lottery ticket for the opportunity to hit the lottery for $8 million.

i think these look awesome... the finishing is some of the best. i'd be salivating if it wasn't for the high pricetag. not a huge fan of them pacing their career so fast that it's difficult for me to shell out that kind of cash for their work

Wow I didn't even realize that there is a lottery for these! Are there really people lining up to pay that much for a chance to buy a screen print at such a high retail price? I mean I guess you can always find someone who is interested I'm just suprised. It's rare i'll make the call that a piece of art is just too expensive but this would be one of those times.

disappointment on all accounts for me, images ( and I really enjoyed the show), price point, just seems like a huge lack of effort. Did the Patricks even have a hand in making these at all? I love their early work and think they are very nice people, but this leaves me very cold.

I like the new 80's fonts they pulled out. Regarding the pricing issue, I agree that they seem expensive... but it was not 6 months ago that most Faile fans would pay 4-7k for just a print. The prices are in line with the last lottery. So it's not their fault that people aren't willing to pay that price for the prints nowadays. Once an artist is priced at a certain range, its sort of tricky to backpedal in pricing... cause all the people who bought in at the higher price will feel penalized for supporting them at the earlier price. For the Faile originals... I think that they are at a very good price, considering their size.

I was really disappointed with this release.
The work did not seem particularly strong and the prices are totally out of line with what the market appears to be.
Perhaps I am wrong but I would certainly be willing to spend 2,800 on an original by an up and coming artist rather than that amount on a print in a decidedly declining market.

Curious what people think of the new work. Well? Difficult to say to be honest. On the screen I'm not that keen but it's probably a different case in the flesh.

I love their early work and think they are very nice people, but this leaves me SCRATCHING MY NUTZ. fixed. Not sure why another Faile release was necessary. Especially with some images that have been really beaten to death. Not priced right for the current market at all but I suppose if you are a die hard then you'll have a pretty good shot at winning something since most will not be buying. I'm just getting tired of the same repetitive stuff over and over again.

I consider myself a fan of Faile's work but not too moved one way or another on this release. I had been hoping for a more powerful image.

Another spinning prayer wheel installation from Faile on the streets of New York. Guess they weren't too concerned about the last one being stolen after only a couple of days. Video of the "spinning" wheel and detailed photos posted here.

I wonder how long this one lasts. Faile is apparently confortable with the fact that most street art will eventually get taken. It's sort of the natural cycle that occurs in the concrete jungle...
