The first FAILE wheel has been found! Someone posted a photo (more here) on the Brooklyn collective's message board stating they found it in a dumpster. Of course, this was followed up by asking the other posters how much it is worth and mentioning it may be landing on eBay soon. The thief seems to give himself away a few times, changing his story around and mentioning he would gladly issue a public apology if FAILE contacted him. Because, you know, people apologize for finding stuff all the time. info found on gothamist gothamist.com/2009/06/03/faile_wheel_found_in_dumpster.php

Jugger for some weird reason the way it reads I just imagine you whispering this into some ones ear like in a bad horror movie...Don't look but he is standing right behind you...

Haha... never thought about it that way... just wanted to point out the irony of the post and the fact that he really is standing behind us... I wonder what will happen to the wheel. Maybe he'll sell it for a modest finders fee and we'll return it to Faile.

Apparently the gallery is known for encouraging artists to interact with the space, which would appeal to Faile.
If you look at the artists they represent, you will see that they have work in some impressive collections – Saatchi, Rothschild – and have exhibited at the Guggenheim, Carnegie, Tate, MOMA, and the Whitney Biennial.
Also, Rubenstein's shows get reviewed in The New York Times, New Yorker, Art in America and Artnet pretty regularly.
It's a big step up from the urban art galleries they've been showing in. It will open them up to a whole new level of blue-chip contemporary collectors.

Not sure if I'm alone in this, but I really miss Aiko's contributions to Faile. I wasn't too big on her solo show, but I felt she added something to Faile's pieces that seems to be missing now.

I know a very close friend of Mr Rubenstein, and as commandx said, they are a well received gallery and have been in the game for a long time. Seeing some Urban artists get picked up by these more "branded" galleries is a good thing. It will be great to look back when we get older and hopefully see some of the artists of our generation getting the props that other famous artists receive.

Surprising that PR Gallery signed Faile. This is going to give Faile some credibility outside of the street art scene. Smart move. THey show some really great artists.

I didn't know the gallery and was told that they were trying to keep it on the DL. So no, I didn't know.

sending out a press release is generally not a good idea if you're trying to keep things on the DL

I've been back and forth on Faile for awhile now, I love certain image compositions while others are to repetitive/over used. Glad to see them them get out from under Laz and make the transition to respectable gallery. Things will definitely get interesting from here. I've been staying away from the print market looking for nice original box which I just landed!! The nixon bunny, mixed with sexy ads and a small Faile dog was a combo I couldn't pass up. Sean from Rubenstein was super nice and even provided a generous offer for this piece.. [/quote]
