What an interesting coincidence, Josh, posting about the me Collectors Room on the very day I visit there and am totally floored by those two walls full of JK prints (and that cool OG!)... Amazing show overall - highly recommended! And while I actually found the last two pages quite interesting, I agree that these "things" shouldn't take up more than 1/3 of a page really... so, back to the art!

I think it may be gouache on paper, although I could be wrong.

That is a blast from the past for me, and great to see it again. It was made with a combination of Faber-Castell polychromo pencils and gouache. The paper is a Strathmore bristol board heavy weight smooth plate finish.
This is in part a critique on Disney and western culture's depiction and use of certain animals used to portray villains in stories. This is the "big bad wolf" acting out so to speak by snarling at the Mickey Mouse gloves. Some collectors have interpreted the placement of the sign as impaling the wolf's back, it certainly looks like it could be, but that was not my intention. It does give the image an extra or added tension if viewed in this way. The bottle was a nod to the painter Philip Guston, he also used the Micky mouse glove in his work but many attribute the cartoon influence of Guston's late work to George Herriman's Krazy Kat.
Again, good to see it in good company, and part of great collection.

As a Tucson local it is quite inspiring to have you visit Josh. I look forward to meeting you and chatting it up! Love this new body of work. Will try to make it to the opening reception as well... If a number of Artchival memebers are making this road trip we should meet up and have a few beers after the show. Since we will be in a college town, I think this is the proper thing to do. Could anyone kindly PM me details to this showing. I am fairly close and wouldn't mind making the trip. Thanks! Just bought my tickets. Just a short Thursday - Friday trip so if anyone wants to meet up for some food or what not, send me a PM.
