It certainly is..........PDP seem to be doing a great job of securing any Tauba work that comes to market. Once again im sure it will beat estimates.

this was recently for sale last fall for an asking price of 28k with Jack Hanley as well. I assume it didn't sell through them and the owner is now going the auction route.

I quite like this one. Wouldn't pay these prices, but I like the minimalist approach to a piece which is anything but.

Im equally not a fan of this piece of work , seems crazy that it doesnt sell with Jack Hanley for 28k and will probably go for over estimate at PDP.

Cool concept but not a work I'd really want to hang.

I could be wrong but I thougt there was a black one as well. No? Again a solid concept as seemingly always with her. But here the outcome fails miserably. And I can attest to Hanley still having this as of last fall. It is an interesting reality that almost all of the works were the last pieces in various inventories unsold. Is it most likely it's the dealers themselves bringing them to auction? I'd almost argue that is most likely.

I agree that conceptually this piece is interesting but visually a little off. I'm sure it'll go nuts still. Tauba is doing an edition with the Thing Quarterly that will be released next spring. www.thethingquarterly.com/projects.html THese guys (Will Rogan and John Hershend) are really great and i'm happy to support them. They will be doing a David Shrigley edition later this year as well.

Paula Cooper website for Tauba's upcoming solo (Float: may 5 - june 9) indicates the new show will have new fold paintings, weave paintings, photographs (static?), and another tomography book/sculpture ("Onyx, a deconstructed material volume printed and bound in book form ... allowing the viewer to slice through a solid block of onyx layer by layer, revealing the twists and turns of a mineral narrative.") www.paulacoopergallery.com/exhibitions/519

looks like the How To Spell The Alphabet painting (from the above auction) is in the upcoming MoMA show (which makes sense), along with the rainbow books (which will be great to see in person): arttattler.com/archiveecstaticalphabets.html

is anyone going to her opening on saturday? If I can still stand looking at art by then. WAY, WAY too much great stuff going on in NYC this weekend and I might be burned out. I mean, NADA, Frieze, Pulse, auction previews, Picasso, Fontana, Robert Irwin, Dana Schutz, Frank Stella, Sherrie Levine, Noam Rappaport, Kehinde Wiley, Ryan McGinleyx2, John Chamberlain, Robert Morris, Whitney Biennial, Lucian Freud, etc., etc. Fantastic time to be an art junkie in the city.

for your pleasure...not the best, but I suppose a good teaser until www.arrestedmotion.com gets some pics up onyx book statics There were also these two lucite or crystal sculptures that play with light refraction which were gorgeous. I can't wait to go back when it's empty over there.
