Little preview of Miss Sol's new work for her upcoming solo show looks promising. Info from Amy Sol's blog belowfor the remainder of the spring, summer, and early fall i will be working on my next solo exhibit. this is the most time i’ve ever had to paint, and it is a wonderful change for me. i do not feel rushed and can focus more happily. below photos are recent two paintings in beginning stages. .even though i have more time than ever before, the paintings might take longer than i expect so i am reminded to keep on task. preview of works in progress.

After looking at these new paintings it looks like Amy is done with the water color experiment for now. Which is fine by me because I really like her works on wood with the warmer tones.

That is a great piece. She manages to maintain the elegance that her usual paintings have. The shape becomes a compliment rather than a unwieldly obstacle to put an image on. Part of the charm of her work for me is that it exists in it's own Universe. Her level of finish seems to get better with every piece too.

Nice interview with Amy on The Citrus Report.One of the questions: Q: When Gary Pressman of Copro Nason Gallery find you on Myspace, how did you jump immediately to a solo show? When Gary offered me to show at Copro, I had shown my work locally and in Cannibal Flower shows in LA but I was really just starting out. The fact that a few people (like Gary and LC from Cannibal Flower) trusted my work early on gave me a little push to take it seriously. I had half a year to do a body of work for the first solo exhibit and I think that's what really propelled me into my practice.

She sent me some in progress shots for her show at Copro in November. She's going to have some pieces with desert scenery. .

I saw that big bear thing next to all those fruits and I thought you said she was going to have some dessert scenery. Mmmmm. On a more serious note I like the way Amy Sol continues to grow and add new aspects to her art. I liked the water colors but it is nice to see her go back to the wood canvass.

Loving this new piece. Pretty flawless, this painting is pure magic. Info below from Amy Sol's blogfor the upcoming exhibit i will have a small batch of work which i have been preparing for most of this year. here is one painting titled: starlight crumble. i will not have the other paintings photographed (professionally) until just prior to the opening so for now here is one that was small enough to scan "the starlight crumble" 12 x 16 acrylic on wood detail pictures here {photos just a little blurry.. }

Her schedule for the rest of the year: NOV 27th Vivisect @ Gallery 1988 LA this will be the last installment of the annual group show curated by Luke Chueh! *i will be contributing a graphite on cotton drawing. DEC 5th Minumental @ Trifecta Gallery every year trifecta {an awesome boutique gallery in LV} does this group show that is based on miniature paintings!! *i will supply several tiny acrylic paintings. note: these are very small and will aim to be reasonably priced DEC 12th Multiplane @ Corey Helford Gallery this is going to be an interesting group show based on the look of old animations using multiplane cameras. *all pieces are on planes of glass w/ special framing to separate the layers. And here are some shots of my favorite from her in a while - Sea Ice Caravel from her show at Copro.

Great pictures as usual Sleepboy. The entire show was magnificent, everything is so polished and clean. The Multiplane @ Corey Helford Gallery with the art on glass in layers will be absolutely insane. Does it hurt to be so talented?
